Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.
Great basic dress on sale: the D&G Stretch Corset-Seam Dress from ELuxury.com. Was $425, now $255. Some very neat details here — the corset seaming, of course, but there’s also a ribbon tie at the nape of the neck, an exposed white zipper in back, and white stripes running along the side of the dress.

That’s pretty, but I kind of wish the waist detail wasn’t there. I’m top-heavy, and when combined with a really high natural waist a dress like this would make my proportions look all messed up. This is why I curse all those breezy women’s mags saying things like “cinch it in with a belt!” Um, not a good look for me.
I’m curvy too — I could only wear this dress if I wore Spanx beneath it. (I think it’s the “Higher Power” version. They’re great — they sort of redistribute everything and make me look more more hour-glass-like.
Oh, to be one of those girls with the slim athletic builds…
