in Fashion, The Personal Shopper (TPS)

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Women: Whisper thin turtleneck - true black knit
About a year ago, we were on the hunt for a super thin cotton turtleneck to layer under our sleeveless dresses and short-sleeved blazers.  We wanted something very thin, high quality, comfortable, and washable — with slightly longish sleeves if possible.  And, a year ago, it seemed like we could barely find one anywhere.  So when we saw this “whisper thin” turtleneck at the Gap, we had to point it out — it comes in a variety of sizes and a bevy of colors.  And, best of all, it’s only $26.  Women: Whisper thin turtleneck – true black knit

Ammerican Apparel has a great selection of just what you are describing. The shirts don’t shrink, and are thin and stretchy.

J. Crew also has a similar option – they call it the Tissue Turtleneck

I realize I’m late on this, but I’d love if you could address this in a future post. I have never worn a long sleeved shirt under a short sleeved/sleeveless shirt, dress, or blazer, and I’ve also never seen a single woman do this, in either a professional or casual setting. I understand a vest over a long sleeved shirt, but I cannot imagine this look you’ve described with such frequency. I also don’t really think I’ve ever seen the look on a model in a catalogue–I really can’t picture how this could work. All that comes to mind is junior high when I wore t-shirts over turtlenecks, but I really hope that’s not it!

Thanks!

i dont think i could live without my turtlenecks to layer under sweaters, shift dresses, and blazers- seems like a great option- but i stick by my michael michael kors tnecks- they seem to be very similar
