Wednesday’s TPS Report: Rafe Gloria Platform Peek A Boo T-Strap in Black

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

tights with peeptoe shoes to workWe really, really like these peep-toe t-strap heels, in either black (with green and purple accents) or brown (with red and beige accents) — especially for wearing with tights in the wintertime.*  They’re classic in shape and subdued in color, but the colored accents make them far more interesting.  The platform sole helps offset the 3.5″ heel, also.  They’re marked from $325 to $130 at RevolveClothing.com.  Rafe Gloria Patent Platform Peek A Boo T-Strap in Black

*In summertime we’d probably relegate them to weekend wear — both because the peep toe can be inappropriate to wear with bare toes, and because the patent and suede accents say “fall and winter” to us.

Tuesday’s TPS Report: BOSS Black ‘Deonne’ Shirtdress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

This simple shirtdress is a great classic to pull out in warmer months (spring, are you here yet?). The cotton/polyester dress has side slits for moveability, and side pockets that close with buttons so they don’t affect the “European” (read: close) fit of the dress. We love the darts along the ribcage; very flattering. We also like the price: $294, down from $495 (at Nordstrom). BOSS Black ‘Deonne’ Shirtdress

Tool of the Trade: ShopStyle

2016 Update: Check out our latest discussion of our favorite online shopping apps!

If you normally consider yourself “crazy busy,” the holidays can change the environment to crazy with a capital K.  There are presents to be bought for seemingly everyone, and no time to troll the stores looking for that perfect gift.  (Even with the later holiday store hours!)  The answer for those working women confined to the computer for most waking hours:  use ShopStyle.com, which not only does a complete survey of women’s clothing, but also men’s clothing, kids’ clothing, and home goods.

Here’s how it works:  Let’s say your mother is looking for the perfect new purple v-neck sweater.  In the search box, type “purple.”  Then, using the drop-down menu, select “Sweaters” and then “V-neck” (we’ve highlighted them in blue on our screenshot, below — you can click the picture for a larger view).  Voila — 111 options of v-neck purple sweaters are available right now.  You can further refine your choices by store (in case you only want to get your mother something she can return to a local store) or by sale percentage (’tis the season of the sale, after all).  You can also refine your choice by price, so you don’t have to drool over $500 sweaters.  (We’ve also highlighted that section in blue, as well.) Poll: Holiday Presents for Administrative Assistants and Secretaries

holiday presents for secretariesA number of readers have written in asking about holiday presents for administrative assistants. We tend to agree with Above the Law’s advice last year — cash is the way to go for holidays. Still, we thought we’d poll people to see what they’re giving (and how much):

Tuesday’s TPS Report: Robert Rodriguez Collared Cashmere Cardigan

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Today’s TPS suggestion is this feminine and unique cashmere cardigan by Robert Rodriguez (pictured in a yellow but available only in a gray graphite). The balloon sleeves, cinched waist, wide collar — it all reminds us of something Katharine Hepburn would have worn (perhaps while chasing Cary Grant and her dog around). We think this would look great with wide trousers or a pencil skirt, perhaps accented with a brooch. Available on sale at Nordstrom for $229 (was $385). Robert Rodriguez Collared Cashmere Cardigan
