Wednesday’s TPS Report: Shumaq Marlena Dress

in Fashion, The Personal Shopper (TPS)

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Shumaq Marlena Dress in BlueThere are some crazy sales going on right now at Couture Candy — up to 80% on lots of items! For today’s TPS, we like this lovely dress from Shumaq. We like the white placket against the navy blue, with a bit of cream embroidery; for the office we’d wear it with a cream or white boyfriend cardigan and, perhaps, purple leather pumps. Was $202, now $101 at CoutureCandy.com (also available in brown). Shumaq Marlena Dress in Blue

That doesn’t seem like a corporate job appropriate outfit.

I agree with anon – way too short for work. And I’m tall so probably even shorter on me. Short skirts are a huge no-no at my corporate office.

Although I think the length is perfectly fine (although about as short as I would go), the details of the lace and the “bib” look of the top remind me of the dresses I wore as a toddler… making the “onesie” size option a little too appropriate IMO!

Wow, this is a tough crowd to please. I think this is a beautiful dress and I could totally wear it to my BigLaw California job (with or without a cardigan). But I don’t understand what “onesie” means as far as sizing.

I agree with Cat. If you’re trying to shed your “stop treating me like a woman who needs to be coddled” image at the office, this is not the dress to do it in.

TPS, get it together!

I love this dress, and I would definitely wear it on casual Fridays or with a crisp white jacket if I didn’t have a client meeting. But I agree with CS- what does “onesie” mean? I’m definitely too short to wear a one-size-fits-all dress…
Sadly, it’s out of stock at the moment. Oh well.
