Tuesday’s TPS Report: Kate Spade’s Cybill Pump

by C June 16, 2009 Fashion

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.
Kate Spade - Cybill (Plum Suede) - Footwear
The best deals usually come from buying classic pieces in their off season. Take, for example, this gorgeous pair of heels by Kate Spade. We love the two inch heel, the multiple 5-star comfort ratings at Zappos, and the vibrant purple suede (as we’ve discussed numerous times, a great way to spice up a navy, black, or gray outfit). And they’re 40% off at Zappos with lots of sizes and colors left? Sold. They’re $157 (were $282). Kate Spade – Cybill (Plum Suede) – Footwear

Vivienne Westwood - 780069 (Black) - ApparelHappy Monday! We’re loving this gorgeous fitted blazer by Vivienne Westwood for today’s splurge. We love the fitted look, the unexpected pop of color at the collar, and even the unusual shape at the collar. We’d wear this with a bright red, slightly chunky necklace, and neutral pants or a skirt — gray or black, most likely. Available at Zappos for $1,002. Vivienne Westwood – 780069 (Black) – Apparel

Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Gap’s Shirred Cardigan

Women: Shirred cardigan - true black knit

We’re loving the shape of this classic short-sleeved cardigan. It’s the details that stand out — the shirring at the neck, the curve of the neckline, and the way the sleeves hit your elbows — perfect. We’d wear this on a brutally hot day to cover a sleeveless tank or dress. Was $50, now on sale at the Gap in a variety of colors, sizes, and prices. (The black is currently $44.) Thursday’s TPS Report: Lucky Brand Chiffon Yoke Top

iconThis top has a lot of elements we normally would not like for the office — chiffon (in the delicate twisted colored bits at the top), a pre-bloused shape, and a tie at the bottom that dangles out. But the multicolored chiffon at the top is just so, so pretty and unusual we had to find a way to make this work for the office. So here’s how we’d wear it: light gray trousers (with the tie either tucked in, or tied in a way that it doesn’t dangle), this top (possibly with a navy camisole beneath it), and a fitted white blazer. Thoughts? It’s available at Nordstrom for $69. Lucky Brand Chiffon Yoke Top

Suit of the Week

by C June 10, 2009 Fashion

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

For this week’s suit of the week, we like the tannish color of this Anne Klein skirt suit. It’s darker than beige, which in its lighter shades can be unflattering in a variety of ways, especially if you’re pale — yet not as dark as brown, which isn’t very summery, and can be difficult to accessorize. It’s $179 at Dillards. Anne Klein Suit 2-Piece Skirted Suit
