tweed suit- nice, but I always wear something dark (black or charcoal) for a serious meeting. This would be fine for a non-serious meeting. Necklace would be too big for moi.

I like the suit, though am not sure I would ever wear it. But the asymetrical sleeves are really bugging me. Was this just pinned that way on the model, or are they really different lengths? If so, ick. And the shoes, definitely wrong.

I think the featured suit has a distinctive ladies-who-lunch look. I think the president of the benefit committee for the museum auxiliary board would look lovely in it at the luncheon/planning meetings.

I'm loving the linked suit from NM.

Wow. This really is such a beautiful departure from the basic black suit that we so often see. Gorgeous find.

I think the big buttons are what make it look old/matronly to me. I used to have a slightly similar tweed suit from BCBG that had invisible hook closures, and that was a lot younger-looking. You could switch out the buttons for smaller ones and it would look a lot better imo.

Pretty! I agree that this is the type of suit that you are most likely to see on women over 40, but I don't think there's anything matronly about it. I think it would look great on a younger woman with the confidence to pull it off.

As for the "band-aid" suit ... I'm not sure if it's the fabric type or the wrap-around style that is band-aid-like, but I'm fine with both. The buttons in this particular example are too much for me, but I think they would be fine for someone older or taller than I am (mid-20s and 5'3").

The "band-aid" suit is overpowering the torso. One of these decorations would add flair to a normal suit, but in combination they are far too much.

I think it's band-aid b/c the buttons give the appearance of wrapping the jacket around your torso . . . ? I don't care for the one in the link (buttons are odd), but I don't dislike the style.

I do like this suit, and I'm not "seasoned." It's attention-getting as a full suit though, so I don't know how likely I'd be to wear it.

I'm not entirely sure why the other suit is a "band-aid" suit, but I have to say that I really like it. The texture and styling give it a fun look that gives it a little more interest than the standard black suit.

As for the featured suit, I think there's something about it that I don't like. The buttons don't do it for me and I think the styling with the black sandals and asymmetric rolled up sleeves makes it look a little off.

From my early forties vantage point, I think it's gorgeous for either a serious power-suit situation or the afternoon-wedding scenario.
