Today we wanted to point you to this fabulous, almost vintage-looking top from Le Train Bleu, which has many excellent work pieces right now. According to the website, it has a keyhole back, so you can wear the top backwards as a v-neck, and it’s great as a layering piece under blouses, jackets, and we’re guessing under dresses, also. The piece looks really comfortable, classic, and beautiful, and all for $72. (It also seems to keep selling out — hopefully they are replenishing their stock soon, as there are only Black/Smalls left at the moment.) Jabot Top

Seriously see-through. But even if it weren’t, it doesn’t strike me as very professional looking.

Don’t like it, all the tie neck tops remind me of the 80s and power suits. Shudder. I do like to find new labels though!
This is much better than all the terrible AT/AT LOFT random bow at the shoulder tee shirts that Corporette is so fond of recommending. Might be too interesting for some workplaces, but good find!
Hmm- it seems to be completely out of stock now. I wish I could find more information on the material too. I don’t really like to by any polyester shirts because they don’t breathe at all.

Yes. I like it, but too costumey for work.
The wings are too much for me, especially with my body type. Do NOT think they would be forgiving to anyone who is pear shaped. But take away the wings, and I really like the neckline and shape.

I don’t like the wings..it looks like a costume for playing a first lady, but DH, I liked both of those dress also, the deco and the noir….
I like them both- conservative enough in terms of length/neckline to wear to work but still fun! I don’t like the gray one though. I think if it were a nice sheath without the wings, I’d go for it, but the wings probably look ridiculous unless you’ve got a fairly straight figure on the bottom.
I like all three, and I bet if they were paired with fierce, modern power pieces that they would look much less costumey. But that said, the wings do give me pause on the grey dress – the neck is amazing though!
I like this top, but I’m a big fan of being able to take off my jacket/cardi, and the won’t work for me…
And Delta Sierra’s comment might have just made me a convert!
I like this. Too bad its out of stock. I think it would look great under heavier weight sheaths… would love a balck and chocoalte brown…
Oh gosh. I can’t comment intelligently on whether this works today for the office. I am buried under the weight of memories. The 80s. Just out of business school. Self-tie blouses. Wearing men’s bowties. Oh the horror.
Men’s bowties?!?! That’s hilarious. I am cracking up over here. I was too young then for any workplace misadventures, but I do remember a pretty sweet neon splatterpaint t-shirt, neon belt, and neon lace headband. And eye shadow experimentation and a bad perm. Oh, the 80s. No wonder there is such a backlash these days about their return!
I’m with you. This brings back Dress For Success flashbacks. These long ties will feel dated very quickly. They’re either hot, or not.

What I’m confused about is how it could be worn backwards as a v neck. Keyholes usually aren’t V shaped, but more importantly, the extra fabric at the back from the bow would be uncomfortable and lumpy and chances are it would be lumpy below the shoulder blades because (unless you are completely flat chested) your boobs would have stretched it out when you wore it the correct way.
I’m kind of perplexed by this as well. I wish there was a back view!
I think that it looks lovely from the front, though.
I’m also confused. Won’t the shape of the fabric be expecting more “volume” in the front and be super tight/uncomfortable if worn backwards. This just sounds bizarre.
I’ll look in on Le Train Bleu regularly – love their stuff. Their ikat blouse – swoon.
Impressive: I just wrote to Le Train Bleu saying how much I liked their stock, and hoping they wouldn’t forget the size 14-16 women. Within an hour I got a great personal e-mail acknowledging the difficulties in those sizes (not all their favorite manufacturers make them), and saying they were trying to stock some. Included a list of 24 items they currently have in those sizes! This seems to be a business that really wants to take care of its customers.
So impressed by the customer service.
Wow… not in that size range but I do like good service. they have a few trousers I like also….
I like the way this looks, but I am VERY unlikely to be able to replicate the tie, so I’d be fearful of ordering it. Love the unique look, though!
Hm… I’ve been to their store in Portland, sooo cute, but I guess they’ve shut it down. Such a shame.
