Not a fan of this on the model. But if you have a smaller frame, it might be cute. I think, in general, this cut of shirt’s looks best on someone petite and relatively narrow.

I just went to Nordstrom today and bought this in black. I really liked it, but now that I see it on the model I’m not so sure. Thoughts?

Per my (tiny) sister, Theory is cut for a Japanese frame. I don’t know if that explains the waist-to-hip ratio, but it explains why I (a size 8 in AT or Jones New York) cannot wear Theory. Period.

I have 2 pairs of the NYDJ jeans from Nordstrom. I find them very flattering to my early forties body, especially because I have a long torso and short legs and anything low-rise is a problem. In a dark wash, I think they look great and I’ve gotten tons of use out of them. I do find that they have stretched out a bit (I”ve had mine for 2 years) and I am considering getting a new pair or 2, but they’ve been an excellent investment for me and I would recommend them for those of us who just can’t hack the low-rise of True Religion or other designer brands.

There hasn’t been much of a change, from what I’ve seen. I tried on a pair this summer and the dreaded waist gap was so big you could practically see down to my toes. It just seems like the sizing chart is way off since it indicates a more hourglass-friendly shape than I’ve seen.

I like Theory suits a lot (second to Tahari) and find both tend to work well with my body type, which is a not particularly small waist but slim thighs and butt. The fit is very flattering and makes me look long and lean. I have friends the same size as me who carry more weight at the hip and thigh who can’t wear those brands at all.

I tried them on and did not like them; I found them to be high-waisted and not particularly effective at making my size 10 tummy look like a size 6. But seriously, I found the tummy control panel created a round look that was less attractive than normal jeans are.

I agree. I was trying on Theory pants recently and had to go up two sizes in to get them to fit in the thigh, and the waist and rear end were enormous. Absolutely the wrong cut for me and I’m a pretty easy fit in other braands.

My experience with Theory is that the waist size is HUGE in comparison to the fit through the hips/thighs. This was a few years ago and with Theory pants rather than skirts. Has anyone else with more recent experience with the brand noticed this?
