Thursday’s TPS Report: Semantiks Stretch Wool Skirt

by C on 11/19/2009 · 20 comments

in Fashion, The Personal Shopper (TPS)

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
Today, we’re liking this paneled wool skirt from Nordstrom’s.  We like the knee-grazing length of it, as well as the flattering A-line shape — it’s a perfect basic for the winter.  It’s $78 at Nordstrom’s, available in sizes 2 through 16.  Semantiks Stretch Wool Skirt

If you’ve recently seen a great work piece you’d like to recommend to the readers, please e-mail editor@corporette.com with “TPS” in the subject line. Unless you ask otherwise, we’ll refer to you by your first initial.

… AND a great alternative to the pencil skirt, for those among us who can’t always swing the “here are my curves! All of them!!” look. Great find!!

Oo I really like this! I enjoy pencil skirts, but find they can be too sexy and I think this is a lovely alternative, and it’s a great price for such a versatile basic.

wonderful .. and I love the basic shoes that go with it … too many photos have strange shoe options that distract me from the clothes ..

Nice skirt, great price. I really like the way it looks. Just an FYI, though: Semantiks clothing is usually unlined. I bought a (very affordable) suit from that line and was very disappointed to see that it wasn’t line. So I returned it.

This one is fully lined. I have a skirt like this from Antonio Melani and it’s very comfortable and versatile- great for days when you don’t really want to wear a pencil skirt.

I love this. What would you wear with it on top? What legwear (sheer hose?)?

Cute skirt! In the winter I usually wear my skirts with tights (black or gray with this one) and whatever top/jacket I want. :)

Very nice! I haven’t purchased anything from this line recently–does anyone know if it runs true-to-size?

I bought this skirt a month ago and love it. I can confirm that it is both lined and runs true to size. I have received lots of compliments. Highly recommend.

I think this skirt would look great with black boots as well. Tho’ I love the black heels that are pictured here.

On top, I’d wear a sweater set.

Great find! Thank you for the recommendation.

Is it just me or are this site’s recommendations becoming same old-same old? (With the exception of that garish DVF teal leopard monster shirt from last week.)

I’d say it’s you. Even if Corporette recommends eight black skirts in a row, they’d be at different price points, styles, cuts, fabrics….I feel like she does my shopping for me.

Speaking of which, that might not be a bad idea! What about a weekly theme to the TPS reports? Like start Monday with a splurge black heel, and then recommend a black heel at increasingly lower price points throughout the week. Maybe seeing things in repetition like that I’d get a better idea of why I might want to splurge.

Nice…too bad it doesn’t come in a chocolate brown. I have a similar one in black and it an absolute staple.

I agree with Jay – there is always some differential in the daily posts. That said, I’ve come to find out that reading the comments is where I gather so much of the info. Keep it coming!

Great skirt. I just bought a similar one at JCPenney for about a fourth of the price as this one. I bought it on sale for $25.

Love this site & So grateful you found this skirt. It’s so much more comfortable to wear this shape than a pencil skirt. This site is really great.

I like Jay’s idea of a weekly theme now and then.
