Lawgirl – I noticed your note about cashmere not lasting very long – I have a short sleeved sweater that’s cashmere that I’ve had for years and it’s still in mint condition. I don’t know how you’re supposed to care for cashmere usually – but I always dry clean it, and I don’t even dry clean it every time I wear it. I only dry clean it probably once every three wears. It still looks as good as the day I bought it!!

Mine have stretched… Not majorly, but they softened and moulded to fit me better, actually :-) I got mine at Off Saks 5th several years ago; they were pretty high quality but are now starting to fade and look a bit tired. One of the terrible secrets about cashmere, I guess — they don’t last more than a few winters, even with the best quality.

Anyone know if cashmere sweaters stretch? Just bought a sweater that is slightly too big, but the size smaller is too snug. Am I better off buying the smaller size?

Recognize that this is off topic, but Amazon has its blu-ray DVDs on sale. Just ordered one as a “thanks” gift for my mom, and it was marked down to $14. Looks like the sale is up to 60% off all bluray through 1/4/2010.

Bloomingdales has cashmere sweaters at a similar price point after the 50% off. Didn’t notice any cardigans though.

Shopped out, Christmas’d out, cooked out, cleaning’d out, personally. Online shopping is even super tedious, because everyone’s pouncing on the sales and there are hardly any sizes left (if they aren’t sold out altogether). So done. Maybe February I’ll feel better… ?

Lord and Taylor is having a good cashmere sale, ladies. I bought two beautiful cashmere cardigans for $60 each, down from $150. They come in about 15 different colors too.

Whew! Recovering from “day after” shopping fatigue… Scored two suits (one with pants and skirt), cashmere pullover, argyle cardigan, and a few more tops at Talbots (2 stores), two structured knit jackets and a comfy shawl wrap with matching suede gloves at Coldwater Creek, and a lot of gift stuff at Paper Affair, Festivity and Target.

Confession: I’m really thrilled with my finds, but wish that I could enjoy shopping more than I do. I think it all seems so tedious to try on what seems like a million things. Maybe if I didn’t treat it as a semi-annual clothes marathon, and tried to shop a few more times during the year, it would be different. At least I go with some friends, so it’s more fun (and they’re helpful too).
