I am super excited to be partnering with Windows Phone! They were good enough to give five bloggers a new phone for Fashion Week — and I’m one of them! I met with the crew last night to play with my new Samsung Focus. It looks like it’s going to be a great way to keep up with e-mail, blogging, and snapping pictures (hello, 5.1 megapixel camera) during Fashion Week (and wow, is going to be an improvement over my current phone, a Treo. Yes, I’m a dinosaur on the phone market — that’s what I get for being loyal to Sprint!!) (Pictured: my new Windows Phone next to my ginormous Treo. I appreciate the full disclosure, but I don’t understand why Corporette went for it. This isn’t a natural mash-up at all. Seems like Windows is trying too hard to be “fashionable” to me, while Corporette is just taking money from whoever’s offering, regardless of the relevance to readers. I know that a lot of your audience have the disposable income for smart phones, but it still seems awkward at best.
You enjoy reading Corporette, right? The multiple posts per day? The content? Don’t you think it’s fair that Kat get something out of it? As long as it’s a reasonable ratio of substantive content to sponsored content, I’ll keep reading. Plus, for most professional women, our smartphone is one of the most important things we own. Congrats, Kat, and enjoy fashion week!
I do enjoy reading corporette, especially the comment threads, so thanks for your input. I’ve bought an occasional item featured here, I click through several times each week, and I don’t begrudge any businesswoman the commission she earns from me. I truly have nothing against advertising, as long as it’s relevant. This partnership just doesn’t seem like a natural fit.
Its not really the phone, its more the fashion week. She’ll take pictures with the camera, which obviously we would be interested in.
I recognize the validity of a windows phone sponsor in order to have the private means to follow Corporette’s features during the work day.
