Comments

  1. I love this time of year because stores are getting rid of all their summer stuff, even though it’s super warm where I am for the next several months. However! In looking at the Banana sale online, I noticed a shirt there for $39 that I recently picked up in store for $8 — online shopping isn’t always cheaper!

  2. Threadjack – I am considering straightening my hair and have read the previous comments on this site about Japanese v. Keratin treatment.
It seems like Keratin treatment is more for “repair” and conditioning rather than for straightening, is that right? I’ve done a Japanese straightening many years ago and loved that it was hassle free – a wash and go type of style that looked perfect right out of bed. My hair has a lot of volume (usually requires texturizing, or thinning out during haircuts) so I’m not concerned about loss of volume. I thought Keratin may be a gentler, less harmful way of getting the same result but from what I’ve seen it seems to need a lot more maintenance and even flat ironing. Any insight?
For more background – I am coming to the end of breastfeeding my year old baby. I held off on hair treatments throughout pregnancy and bf’ing because I didn’t want to risk the chemicals transmitting (yes I know, so many people do it, the risk isn’t really that much and so on – but first baby, and maybe I’m a bit paranoid!). But I also have very little time and patience for hair styling and really need a ready to wear hairstyle. Hence my dilemma between mild (keratin) and effective (Japanese).

    • I have thick hair with a lot of volume, waves, and curls. I have had the Aveda Keratin treatment and something called Keratin express. Neither of them made my hair straight, but that’s not what I wanted so it was fine. It was a bit easier to flat iron if I wanted to wear it straight, though.

    • I’ve had the CHI straightening (I think it’s Keratin), and I loved it. This was one I had to wait 2 days to wash my hair after the treatment. I still had to use a flatiron (my hair is super curly) but my hair was really shiny and looked very healthy. It took me maybe 1o minutes just to smooth it with the flatiron. As it wore out, I had waves and then eventually curls but didn’t have to wait for new growth. I’ve never had the Japenese treatment but the fact that it is so permanent scared me. However, I have tried other Keratin treatments (I can’t remember what they were but they were groupon-type deals) with little-to-no noticeable results.

  3. My afternoon happy: I ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YF9212/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M2T1_SC_dp_3 and it cutes me out. Can’t wait to get it. My desk needs some class, and I never know what to do with business cards.

  4. Has anyone seen a Cole Haan sale going on anywhere? Still looking for the Air Violet 60 pump in nude, and holding out for a sale. Looks like the 25% off on their website only applies to sale items.

  5. For those of you who live in an area with a Dillard’s clearance center, they’re doing all apparel buy one get one free through tomorrow.
(For Tampa Bay ‘rettes – the Dillard’s at University Mall is a clearance center)

  6. Gotta love summer sales! Thanks for the info=!

  7. Saks has a ton of bag on super sale.
