Coffee Break: Pave Flower Pearl Pin

Pave Flower Pearl PinA beautiful brooch is one of our favorite ways to go from desk to dinner because it adds a bit of glamour to even the most basic of outfits. Furthermore, the brooch can be a great investment because it can be used in so many ways — worn in your hair, used to secure a cardigan closed, worn at the waist of a “wrap” dress, or, of course, pinned to your lapel or the straps of the dress. Brooks Brothers has a number of pins on sale right now — we like this basic flower, but all are really cute.  This one was $348, now 174, at Brooks Brothers. Pave Flower Pearl Pin

Coffee Break: Tara Hobo

Elie Tahari – Tara Hobo (Deep Aqua Smooth Calf) – Bags and Luggage6pm.com is having a handbag blowout today, including this great basic hobo from Elie Tahari — available in aqua (pictured), as well as dark shades of blue, brown, purple, green, and red — and more.  They were $448, now marked to $150 (today only).  We like the brighter colors to add a bit of punch to an otherwise drab outfit, or the darker colors as a lovely basic (the brown is particularly lovely).   Elie Tahari – Tara Hobo (Deep Aqua Smooth Calf) – Bags and Luggage (Click hereto see the entire selection of hobos that are on sale today.)

Coffee Break: Pleated Scarf

Johnston Murphy Pleated ScarfToday we’re liking this pleated scarf from Johnston & Murphy. It’s a great basic to keep in your office, if only because — in a pinch — you can use it to mimic a blouse and raise the neckline of a dress that, perhaps, is lower-cut than you originally thought it was. It’s not a perfect fix, but is far better than going home to change. (Full disclosure: We had to do this the first time we wore a DvF dress to the office.)  It’s $38, available in both white and black. PLEATED SCARF

Coffee Break: Cartosio Pump

Bruno Magli ‘Cartosio’ PumpNordstrom is having a big shoe clearance, so we swung by to see what, if anything, struck our fancy.  We lurrve this interesting take on the classic slingback — the yellow accents really make the navy pop.  We like that Bruno Magli was judicious with the use of yellow — it’ll peek out a bit from beneath your toes, be visible on the strap and footbed at the back of the shoe — but not the heel itself.  Lovely.  These were $390, now $257 in sizes 36-40.  Bruno Magli ‘Cartosio’ Pump

(N.B.: The peep-toe pump is not appropriate for all offices; know your own environment well.)

Coffee Break: Stringalong Flats

Stuart Weitzman – Stringalong (Coal Degrade Patent) – Footwear6pm.com has one of the perennial reader favorites in today’s sale: Stuart Weitzman.* We’re liking this interesting pair of flats, which have a gradient effect.  They’re available in brown and red as well, and a fairly good number of sizes considering that they’re 50% off.  (Some prices are up to 85% off, but lucky sizes only). If you haven’t shopped 6pm.com before: it’s owned by Zappos, and gives you 30 days to return purchases (but you have to pay return shipping). Not bad for deep discounts on one-day only sale items. Stuart Weitzman – Stringalong (Coal Degrade Patent) – Footwear

(L-2)

* Yes, yes, we know — this is our second featured pair of flats this week! We try not to that, but a) we really like ’em, b) you guys really like SW, and c) we are sick and have been working around the clock on that pesky “real job” anyway. Cough, cough. Excuse us while our head explodes…

Coffee Break: Cole Haan Air Bacara Ballet Flats

Cole Haan Air Bacara Ballet FlatsOooo — we love these patent ballet flats from Cole Haan, with cute lacing up the back that is reminiscent of both shoelaces and corsetry all at the same time. We like the Estate Blue (pictured), but there’s a light purple for your more adventurous days and, of course, your basic black and neutral. They’re $138 at Endless.com.  Maria Sharapova Collection by Cole Haan Women’s Air Bacara Ballet
