Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Zac Posen’s Iris Bag in Gray

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Zac Posen’s Iris Bag in GrayWe like this ladylike nappa leather bag with geometric details by Zac Posen.  To us, it’s the little details that make the bag so fine — the hexagonal zipper pull, the suede lining, the pleats in the leather.  We especially like the size — at 16 x 13.5 x 6.5 (at base), it’s big enough to hold your wallet, your sunglasses, a small paperback book, and all your technology.  Available on sale at eLuxury for $1,169 (down from $1,925).   Zac Posen – Iris Bag, Gray

Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Banana Republic’s Geo-Print Tulip Skirt

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Banana Republic’s Geo-Print Tulip SkirtWe like the fun geometric print on this skirt, in the shape of the season: the tulip.  Tulip skirts, while not for everyone, are a nice way to mix up a working wardrobe, and the price is certainly right on this one: it’s marked down to $39.99 at Banana Republic.  Because the print is a bit on the loud side, we’d wear it with all black at the office — perhaps a slim-fitting black sweater or twinset and simple accessories.  Women: Geo-print tulip skirt – Black combo

Suit of the Week

This is a great basic suit for spring, summer, and fall — we love the double-edged collar, the darts for shaping, and the simple and clean skirt. The “acorn” color is a nice counterpart to white or pastel shirts in the spring and darker blues and blacks in the summer and fall. We’d even try it with a simple red t-shirt or blouse if we were feeling a bit saucy. The jacket is available at Dillards for $199 (Antonio Melani “Oceana” Jacket) and the skirt is available for $119 (Antonio Melani “Perch” Skirt).

Wednesday’s TPS Report: DKNYC Short-Sleeve Dress with Elastic Belt

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

DKNYC Short-Sleeve Dress with Elastic Belt 2You cannot go wrong with basic black, and this is nearly a perfect summer dress for an office cocktail party.  The short sleeves give you coverage, while the wide v-neck adds some (ladylike) intrigue — and the on-seam pockets give you a place to stick your coatcheck stub or building pass.  We’d probably swap out the belt for something more luxurious, and perhaps accessorize with a brooch and some colorful pumps.  It’s $129 at Macy’s.  DKNYC Short-Sleeve Dress with Elastic Belt

Tuesday’s TPS Report: Nanette Lepore Joy Hunt Jacket

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Nanette Lepore Joy Hunt JacketWe love this jacket from Nanette Lepore.  The wooden buttons, the creamy white tweed, that peplum flounce… love it, love it, love it.  We’d wear it on top of sheath dresses primarily, but also with wide trousers.  We also love the price: it’s on sale from $495 (there’s a version that is a deep pink still at that price) to $294 at Nordstrom.   Nanette Lepore ‘Joy Hunt’ Jacket

Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: CC Skye Bardot Bag

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

CC Skye Bardot BagFor this week’s splurge, we like this grained leather tote from CC Skye. The gold hardware is playful without being annoying or too blingy, and the structure is functional but chic. We also like that it can be worn over your shoulder or on your arm, as pictured. Available at Zappos for $701. CC SKYE – Bardot (Black) – Bags and Luggage
