Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Anthropologie’s Big Island Top

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Anthropologie’s Big Island TopSometimes, a splash of color is just what a working wardrobe needs. We like this empire tunic with puffed sleeves from Anthropologie — worn with conservative gray or black trousers, it would be a great addition to a summer wardrobe, especially when paired with an opaque white cardigan. Available at Anthropologie; was $78, now $39. Big Island Top

Thursday’s TPS Report: Brooks Brothers’ Pinstripe Trousers

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Brooks Brothers’ Pinstripe TrousersWe really like these super 110s wool trousers from Brooks Brothers — the way they lay, the spacing of the pinstripes, the Bemberg lining — they just strike us as a beautiful, comfortable, and professional pair of trousers that will last for years.  We particularly like the discount — they were $238, now $95 (but with the automatic discount they come down to $80).   Pinstripe Trousers

Wednesday’s TPS Report: David Meister Jersey Sheath Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

David Meister Jersey Sheath DressFor today’s TPS, we like this classic brown sheath dress from David Meister, on sale at Nordstrom.  It’s form-fitting without being overly sexy, can be paired with a white or beige blazer or cardigan, and can go from day to night without problems.  We particularly like the scooped neckline that hits below her collarbone — too high of a neckline can be extraordinarily unflattering.  Was $268, now $134. Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Brooks Brother’s Wool Angora Double-Faced Coat

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Brooks Brother’s Wool Angora Double-Faced CoatWe love this classic wool/angora/cashmere double-faced outerwear coat from Brooks Brothers. A coat like this is fabulous for spring and fall, where it isn’t quite warm enough to go with just a sweater or a light jacket — and a great way to look eminently professional coming and going (which, let’s face it, can account for a lot of your “face time”) on your more casual days. We love the details here: the horn buttons, the suede binding, the Bemberg lining — and the marked down price. Was $598, now $202 with the automatic 15% off discount, which jumps to 25% if you use a Brooks card. Wool Angora Double-Faced Coat

Thursday’s TPS Report: Ann Taylor Ponte Knit Contrast Trim Jacket

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

We love this great navy jacket with a preppy contrast trim — and with the ponte knit, this will fit and feel a bit more like a sweater.  Ann Taylor has a variety of matching navy pieces (pants, skirt) but otherwise, we’d recommend wearing this with a gray, purple, or white sheath dress or trousers.  It’s on sale for $69 (was $150).  Ann Taylor Ponte Knit Contrast Trim Jacket
