iconWe’re normally against cowlnecks for work, if only because the neckline makes it difficult to add a cardigan or jacket on top of it. But this dress is too lovely not to include. We love the gentle pattern, the nearly elbow-length sleeves, and the slight pleats in the skirt. Ladylike and serious, without being severe. Lovely. It’s available at Nordstrom’s for $158. Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Tory Burch’s Esther Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

tbToday’s reader-suggested TPS comes from reader K, who couldn’t decide between this lovely dress and this dress. As she explains, “i am loving the spark of color and the conservative cuts, but i’m not sure if a neutral colored cardigan or blazer would be enough to tone down the technicolor going on here. Of course, there’s no way to justify adding both to one closet, so i guess i will have to choose between sleeves and a longer hemline– they just feel very versatile for weekend/work/casual/evening wear.” For our money, we’d go with the Esther dress (pictured).  The longer hemline does look more ladylike and professional, and the black base of the Esther dress make it easier to add a black cardi, structured sweater, or cropped jacket.  If the color explosion feels like it’s too much for the office you can always wear a black crewneck t-shirt over the dress (effectively wearing it like a skirt).  But all in all, gorgeous dress — we love the outline of the placket and the pockets.  Lovely!  Available at Tory Burch for $425.    Tory Burch ESTHER Dress

Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: J.Crew’s solid three-quarter sleeve stretch shirt

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Today’s TPS report was suggested by reader S, who writes:

I’ve been obsessed with this J Crew classic shirt for work … it fits me and my freakishly long torso so well, and they switch in a bunch of new colors every season! They’re normally $58, but it seems like they’ve been rotating which colors go on sale, so I’ve been able to slowwwly build my collection until I eventually get them all. Perfect under everything and over anything. Also, I’ve had a few monogrammed and they look so classic and crisp.

As luck would have it, they are on sale at the moment, and (depending on color) priced at either $39.99 or $48. N.B.: they come in petites as well. Women’s solid three-quarter sleeve stretch shirt

Update: A reader suggests we try code EXTRA20, which expires today.

Women's shoes/bags: Bandolino Inlet - Plumberry
I scream, you scream, we all scream for purple pumps — particularly when they’re part of a secret 20% off sale going on at Piperlime today only.  (All regularly-priced pumps are 20% off.)  We love the purple leather, embossed with snakeskin, and we adore the lower-than-3″ heel (it’s two and a half, but hey).  They’re regularly $79 at Piperlime; with the code PUMPS they’re now $63. iconWell, this is something you don’t see every day — a perfectly shaped skirt that is both flirty and classic at the same time. We’re loving the sculpted shape, and the fact that it’s washable. We’d wear it with the highest heels we could passably walk in, and a fitted top with clean lines. It’s available for pre-order at Nordstrom’s for $125. Tracy Reese Sculpted Skirt

iconWhat a great summer bag!  The straw-colored canvas, the snappy kelly green leather — le sigh.  It’s a great price at eBags at the moment, too — now $199 (was $350). Cole Haan Sabra Canvas Box Tote
