Thursday’s TPS Report – Anthropologie Fanning Flames Cardigan

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Anthropologie Fanning Flames CardiganWe don’t usually go for beige and orange — they’re just really not our colors — but something about this Anthropologie sweater strikes our fancy today. The details are what make this: the buttons are beautiful; according to the description they’re “dried blooms encased in crystal clear buttons.” (Close-up below. Looks like the orange embroidery is slightly raised, too, which we like.) The flutter sleeves are just right for work — not too girly but still detailed. The cotton is organic, too. We’d wear it with a dark brown pencil skirt, perhaps.

Wednesday’s TPS Report: BCBG Sweater Jacket

BCBG Sweater JacketOur daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

And just like that, summer weather is finally upon us, which means soon the industrial-strength air conditioners will be, also. We think this wool sweater jacket from BCBG is the perfect thing to keep in the office and pull over pretty much any outfit. Available in navy and black at BCBG. (Obviously, don’t wear the sunglasses while inside.)

ann taylor hammered silk topAnn Taylor has a lot of great sales right now. We like this hammered silk top (although it does seem to be a slightly fall color).

Thursday’s TPS Report: Alice & Olivia Tee – $148

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Alice & Olivia TeeThis cotton/silk tee by Alice + Olivia is fabulous — with the pintucking and fabric it seems much more lux than the $148 it costs. We think the bright pink would be lovely under a black suit, perhaps worn with a long scarf in complimentary colors — perhaps a light blue scarf with red effects or a white scarf with green in it. Available at Bloomingdale’s.

Update: It’s come to our attention that it’s on sale at Bloomie’s, but is now only available in size L. If you’d prefer more options, the top is available (in white only) at Fashion Chateau. They also have a 15% off sale going through 5/27.

Wednesday’s TPS Report: Theory Shirtdress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Theory ShirtdressWe like the high neckline, bold print, and nice shape of this Theory shirtdress, available at Bergdorf Goodman. We’d wear a slip underneath it (just in case!) and with a low heel (particularly if it’s as short a dress as it looks on the model). One of our theories is that prints should always come from an expensive, well-respected brand. Don’t be buying a printed dress at Ann Taylor Loft or Old Navy — not only will people instantly recognize it as being of that brand, but frequently they’re poorly made, with the fabric not lining up properly on the seams. Theory works.
