Thursday’s TPS Report: Bratique Helene’s 3/4 Sleeve Wrap Shirt

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Today’s TPS report is written by City Girl — you can read her full experience with Carisssa here!

Bratique Helene 3-4 sleeve wrapThanks so much for inviting me to guest review on Corporette! I love my shirts from Bratique Helene — their creator, Carissa Brown, gifted me with a couple of their shirts, and they have quickly become wardrobe staples. The blue wrap shirt is just beautiful. The design is genius — there is just enough extra material to give room on the bust-line, but it is darted in such a way as to be very flattering and fitted. I really love the wrap design as it provides plenty of coverage to be work-appropriate (and my law firm is as conservative as they get), yet is great to wear on weekends or out to dinner. The blue color is even more gorgeous in person than on the picture, and the material is great quality. I was impressed at how well it holds up after drycleaning — the quality of the material and the tailoring is very apparent in that after a couple of dry cleanings, it has retained its structure and shape. Finally, I also wanted to mention that Carissa is a master at sizing — I am between sizes, and based on my measurements she recommended different sizes for different shirt styles and everything fit perfectly. Overall, it’s been a great experience, and I look forward to shopping at Bratique Helene many more times.

The 3/4 Sleeve Wrap Shirt is $80, and available at Bratique Helene.

Suit of the Week: Theory Novelty Suit

We like this “novelty” jacket from Theory.  We like the wool-linen blend, which strikes us as unusual but great for unpredictable weather.  We especially like the steel-gray color of it; it’s strong yet feminine.  We would wear it with a more structured shirt than the one shown here — perhaps a simple tee-shirt in white or a royal blue. The jacket (Theory Novelty Blazer) is now $276 at Saks.com (was $395); the pants (Theory Novelty Pants) are available for $206.50 (were $295). Don’t forget the Saks sale, going on — you can get gift cards worth anywhere from $25 – $450, depending on how much you spend.

Wednesday’s TPS Report: What Comes Around Goes Around Meridian Silk Dress in Black

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Meridian Silk Dress in BlackWe like this vintage-inspired silk dress* from What Comes Around Goes Around.  The diamond print pattern would be a bit busy (and a bit too ’70s) on any other color, but it works on black; we also like the two pleats running down the front of the skirt — ladylike yet different.  Even better:  it’s on sale at RevolveClothing.com for $150 (was $375).   What Comes Around Goes Around Meridian Silk Dress in Black

* We know we’ve had some debates in comments about whether silk dresses are appropriate for the office — we’ll run a poll later today on just that topic.

Our love of purple shoes is well documented, and even though it’s late in the season we would still buy these purple suede shoes, on sale right now at Zappos. (The black pair is also on sale, and amazingly they’re still available in a lot of sizes.) We like the delicate starburst pattern on the vamp of the shoe, and the hint of toe cleavage. They’d be perfect for an outfit based in black, navy or gray, and we’d wear them with pretty much any other color for accent (blue or red if you want to be more traditional, green or yellow if you want to take more of a risk.) They were $499; now on sale for $268. Sigerson Morrison – Sm9188 (Purple) – Footwear

Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Spiegel’s Signature Relaxed Tweed Collection: Blazer

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

41It took us forever this morning to find something for under $50 that we wanted to wear — have designers heard there’s, like, a recession on? In any event, we like this relaxed blazer from Spiegel. It’s definitely got a tweedy-type pattern, so we would only wear this with solid colors, like a black shift dress to work or a black t-shirt with dark jeans on the weekend. (This drapes a bit too much to really work as a “suit” — it’s definitely on the more casual side — but there is a matching pencil skirt, as well as a long skirt, if you’d like to complete the look that way, too.) It’s $50 at Spiegel.com. Signature Relaxed Tweed Collection: Blazer
