Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Brooks Brother’s Wool Angora Double-Faced Coat

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Brooks Brother’s Wool Angora Double-Faced CoatWe love this classic wool/angora/cashmere double-faced outerwear coat from Brooks Brothers. A coat like this is fabulous for spring and fall, where it isn’t quite warm enough to go with just a sweater or a light jacket — and a great way to look eminently professional coming and going (which, let’s face it, can account for a lot of your “face time”) on your more casual days. We love the details here: the horn buttons, the suede binding, the Bemberg lining — and the marked down price. Was $598, now $202 with the automatic 15% off discount, which jumps to 25% if you use a Brooks card. Wool Angora Double-Faced Coat

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

We love this great navy jacket with a preppy contrast trim — and with the ponte knit, this will fit and feel a bit more like a sweater.  Ann Taylor has a variety of matching navy pieces (pants, skirt) but otherwise, we’d recommend wearing this with a gray, purple, or white sheath dress or trousers.  It’s on sale for $69 (was $150).  Ann Taylor Ponte Knit Contrast Trim Jacket

Wednesday’s TPS Report: Lucien-Pellat-Finet Skull/Snake/Sword Cashmere Sweater

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Skulls, swords, and horned snakes appear far too rarely in corporate attire, and so when we saw this beautiful cashmere sweater, we had to share. We’d wear it under a suit — with pearls, of course — and then remove our jacket when it was time to show our punk, stylish side, such as during our closing argument. At $790 — on sale! — it’s a bargain. Available at Couture Candy. Lucien-Pellat-Finet Sale Skull/Snake/Sword Cashmere Sweater Black

Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Tory Burch’s Slim Calf Leather Tote

50Green is a surprisingly versatile color — perfect in the springtime when worn with cool colors like gray and white, and perfect in the fall when worn with warmer colors like brown and cream (and it always looks great with black and navy). Despite this, green is a hard color to wear in a coat or sweater unless your skin tone is just so; it also tends to be a bit unflattering as a shoe color. But a green bag? Perfect. This one is particularly nice — it’s got a zippered pocket on the inside as well as two open pockets; we also like the printed inside lining. (We would probably detach the longer strap.) Available at Saks.com for $535. Tory Burch – Slim Calf Leather Tote
