Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: 3.1 Phillip Lim Cotton-Blend Military Jacket

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

3.1 Phillip Lim Cotton-Blend Military JacketOooh: a great, splurge-worthy piece from 3. Phillip Lim — a lovely cream jacket to add to your spring working wardrobe. We love the floating epaulets, the toggle closure, and the artfully placed (and functional) pockets. It’s nice with a delicate dress, as shown, but we think it’s even nicer with a brightly-colored tank and a pair of black slacks, or perhaps a pastel tee and a pair of brown or navy slacks. It’s $525 at Net-a-Porter.com. 3.1 Phillip Lim Cotton-Blend Military Jacket

Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Banana Republic’s Puff-Sleeve Sweater

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Banana Republic’s Puff-Sleeve SweaterWe don’t know why we haven’t noticed this sweater before at Banana Republic, because it’s the exact kind of thing that we stock up on and then wear until it’s falling apart. It’s a cotton/nylon sweater with slightly poufed sleeves — on sale! The blue is down to $25, but there are other colors marked to $35: black, coral, and “chocolate bunny” (a dirty khaki color). They look great on top of a white blouse, and are divine beneath a suit. They’re on sale at Banana Republic. Women: Puff-sleeve sweater – Bella blue

Thursday’s TPS Report: Ann Taylor LOFT Pleated Empire Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

We like this simple and sweet dress from Ann Taylor LOFT — it’s a lot on the casual side, but it’s still the kind of thing that can be dressed up for the office with a pair of closed-toe pumps and a cropped jacket. (Then, change into some strappy sandals and a wrap and head out on the town.) Clean lines, a few unique but unobtrusive details — such are the makings of a great summer dress. It’s $69 at Ann Taylor LOFT (and comes in a great online-only color, Havana Blue, as well as black). Ann Taylor LOFT Pleated Empire Dress

Tuesday’s TPS Report: Tory Burch ‘Simone’ Wool Cardigan

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Tory Burch Simone CardiganWe love this gorgeous, unusual printed cardigan from Tory Burch. A tight pattern like this works well at the office because it achieves an almost abstract look from far away — yet up close it’s delicate flowers. We’d wear the cardigan with a white tank and khaki skirt over the summer, or on top of a black shift dress. The cardigan by itself is $295 at Nordstrom; re’s a matching shell available, too, for $225. Tory Burch ‘Simone’ Wool Cardigan

Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Marc by Marc Jacobs Posh Turnlock Dot

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Tory Burch ‘Simone’ Wool CardiganWe like this happy blue leather bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs — it’s got a polka-dotted lining, inside pockets for your technology, and zippers that pull down to the base of the bag (which has feet, so the leather is protected if you set the bag down). It’s also a bag that we wouldn’t feel bad about having on our arm if we happened to be running around in the rain — April showers, anyone? We also like the price, which is rare for a Splurge Monday — $498 at Zappos, which isn’t that bad for a designer bag. (It also comes in a more demure putty gray, if the indigo is too much for you.) Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Tommy Hilfiger Maddi Boyfriend Cardigan Sweater

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Tommy Hilfiger Maddi Boyfriend Cardigan SweaterThis cotton boyfriend cardigan actually comes in white and yellow — gray is no longer available — but we love it all the more because it’s that much more appropriate for spring. Spring is also known as “cardigan time” to the office-going woman, so now’s the time to start stocking up on your basics as well as fresher shapes if you haven’t already. We’d wear this cardigan open, over a shift dress, with the sleeves pushed up and some long necklaces, or perhaps buttoned-up over a pencil skirt with a collared blouse beneath it. It’s marked down from $69 to $49 at Macys.com. Tommy Hilfiger Maddi Boyfriend Cardigan Sweater
