Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Anne Klein has some great sales starting now, including an extra 25% off all sales merchandise. We like this simple jersey dress — which has a built-in camisole/modesty panel. We’d dress it down a bit for an office and wear a long cardigan, a set of pearls, and a sedate pump (perhaps in a gray or skin-colored tone); and then when it was time to go out for the evening we’d ditch the cardigan and change into sexier shoes. Was $168, now $99; with the 25% it comes to $75 (which also gets you free shipping). This one is still available in sizes 2-14, but there are lots of other great work pieces in lucky sizes only. For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

We’re normally a bit iffy about colored suits, but we do seem to have a thing for purple ones. (Actually, we just realized how much of a thing we have for purple suits — we promise, this’ll be the last one of ’09.) Today we like this deep, deep eggplant suit from Anne Klein — we like the interesting collar details, the double buttons in the front, and the tailoring of the jacket. We also like the sale: the suit (Anne Klein Suit 2-Piece Skirted Suit
) is on sale at Dillards for $107 (marked down from $179), available in sizes 2-14.

Today’s suit falls in the realm of “lucky sizes,” but it really is such a gorgeous suit (at such a great price) that we’d be remiss in not pointing it out. In addition to being a classic color and look, we love the wide neckline (perfect for flattering the clavicle) and the large buttons. Formerly $750 for the set, the jacket (Fringed Two Pocket Jacket
) is now $123 (sizes 6, 10, 12, and 16 only), and the skirt ( Tonal Tweed Pencil Skirt
) is now $62.50 (sizes 10 and 12 only).
In other suit-related news, we’ve now seen three or four suits, from different designers, with this sort of “bandaid” fabric construction. Personally, it’s not our cup of tea, but we’re curious what you guys think…

For this week’s suit of the week, we like the tannish color of this Anne Klein skirt suit. It’s darker than beige, which in its lighter shades can be unflattering in a variety of ways, especially if you’re pale — yet not as dark as brown, which isn’t very summery, and can be difficult to accessorize. It’s $179 at Dillards. Anne Klein Suit 2-Piece Skirted Suit
