I am loving the black and white patterns that are everywhere this season. This pencil skirt from MICHAEL Michael Kors is great — I particularly like the way it’s a ponte knit but looks almost like a tweed from far away. It was $80, but is now marked to $47.70 at Dillards. Oooh: I really like this dress. Love the black and white dot print, which, depending on how far away you are, can also look a bit like a snake print or something more abstract. The banded waist with piping is flattering, and the bateau neckline and hem length are both ladylike but professional. I’d keep it fairly neutral for the office, pairing it with nude-for-me pumps and a shrunken blazer (probably black or white, but I could also see a colored blazer working here: royal purple, maybe). It’s $168 at Bloomingdale’s. Tahari ASL “Chloe” Printed Dress

Max Studio has some great sales going on, including this lovely patterned blouse. Its main flaw, of course, is that low, low neckline: I’d pull out my trusty camisole in warmer weather, but in colder weather I could see a thin jersey turtleneck working nicely beneath the whole outfit, in both cases worn with a colorful statement necklace for a pop of color. It was $68, now marked to $38 at Max Studio.

Happy Monday! I love the look of this printed blouse from Diane von Furstenberg. It looks wonderfuly drapey and blousey, and I love the black on white on gray pattern. I could see this tucked into a high-waisted pair of pants and worn beneath a suit jacket, or just worn by itself with a pencil skirt or perhaps some slim pants (cigarette, even, if your office allows). The blouse is $285 (most sizes available at Neiman Marcus as of this AM). B Louche Applique Blouse

6pm is having “Designer Day” and there are a ton of great deals to be had, including lots of clothing and accessories from brands like from BCBG MaxAzria, Cole Haan, Calvin Klein, Ella Moss, Frye, L.A.M.B., Three Dots, Trina Turk, and more, all up to 80% off. For our under $50 TPS report, I’m liking this simple black and white optical printed sheath dress from Donna Morgan. I think the pattern strikes just the right balance of fun while also being professional (and not, you know, seizure inducing) and the 70% off markdown is great: was $138, currently marked to $41.40 (sizes 4-12 still available). P.S. Hat tip to reader PollyD, who suggested “Frugal Fridays” might be better than “Bargain Fridays,” and I’m totally taking her up on the suggestion. TPSs run in a price range, as you may or may not have noticed, at least W-F — Wednesday is less than $150, Thursday is less than $100, and Friday is less than $50. I, of course, like to think that I find bargains throughout the week (even on Mondays sometimes!) — I’m always on the lookout for a sale for you guys!
