I’m always on the lookout for easy pieces. Dresses and suits that I can just throw on with a pair of pumps and go. This tan sheath dress from Tahari (Bluefly, $88) is such a dress.
I’d wear this dress with a chocolate brown pump (tan would just create a washout) and wood bangles. If you were so inclined, you could also wear it over a tie-neck blouse in ivory, tan or navy. Loving the look of this boatneck blazer from Prada. Boat neck jackets can be tricky to pull off for the office, if only because you don’t want your bra to be poking out, but you also don’t want bare shoulders where your bra should be. I think for work I’d wear this with a wide-necked t-shirt, so the space between where my bra begins and the jacket begins is completely covered in fabric. Comes in teal and orange.” I agree — it’s bright and happy, but a lovely basic (and reminds me a bit of the other blue sheath dress we featured recently). I love the look of this simple tee from linQ — it’s 100% silk, and the chiffon ruching on the shoulders adds interest without overwhelming your outfit. I also like the slight curve to the v-neck. I think this is a lovely dark blouse from Joie. The mix of black, white and blue is a fun one, and I can see it working across seasons — with gray trousers and a boyfriend cardigan in the colder months (or perhaps even layered on top of a thin turtleneck), and then worn with a white pencil skirt in warmer months with a brightly colored accessory (yellow, orange). I stared at this one a long time this morning: is it a great fall dress on sale, or can it work for spring also? The green is just a shade or two too dark for a true springy dress, but I still think I’d wear it in spring, probably with nude-for-me heels, bare legs, and a light-colored necklace (pearls or perhaps a shiny gold). Either way, I like the shape of the dress, the interesting print, and the sale: was $208, now $125 at Bluefly (lots of sizes still left as of this morning).
