Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. Many thanks to this week’s TPS guest poster, Road Warriorette!
I have to be honest about something: Boden is my favorite. I love all of their clothes, I want to live in their catalog, and it took a lot of will power to restrain myself from doing all of this week’s TPS reports in Boden. Whew, glad I got that off my chest. Now, on to the dress. I know some of you are going to say, No! Not jersey! But I promise—Boden jersey is heavy, doesn’t cling, doesn’t wrinkle, and is lovely and work-appropriate. It also packs incredibly well. The Uptown Jersey Dress is the best type of dress: comfortable yet professional, feminine but not “twee”, and comes in vibrant colors as well as a sophisticated black. I like the purple “Violet Flower Press” the best, and would pair it with yellow flats and a cardigan for a work+travel day. Note: go by the measurement chart as some Boden items run a bit big. Available in Violet Flower Press, Ruby Flower Press, Leaf Flower Press, and Black, in 2-18 Regular and Long, and 2-10 Petite. Uptown Jersey Dress

Reader C recently wrote in to recommend this dress, which looks really cute for the current price of $59: “I recently received this dress in the gray print and pink floral print. It is the PERFECT summer work dress: covers knees, shoulders, and cleavage, not too tight, high quality washable silk material, fully lined, and unbelievably flattering. My colleague bought it too and even though we have very different body types it’s looks great on us both.” Nice! I particularly like it in the gray — muted but interesting. It was $140, and is now marked to $59 at Boden. Sassy Silk Dress

I am a fan of this jacket in almost any color but this mustard and pink combo — but alas, that’s the one they chose to put the model in, so FINE. As we segue-way into warmer weather (finally!) it always strikes me how women can express a ton of individuality and personality in outerwear. It also makes sense for it to be a bit of a splurge — after all, you may wear it multiple times a week. I like this textured cotton coat from Boden — the “tipping” on the pockets, cuffs (and even on the half-belt in the back, love!) adds a bit of interest and whimsy, and I always love a colored lining. It’s available in, well, this color (sigh), a dark blue/light blue combo (which you know I can get behind), a really subtle navy-on-navy (with pink lining) combo, and a a beige/taupe combo (also pretty subtle). Lovely. It’s $168 at Boden, most sizes still available (except the mustard, which I just noticed is sold out — clearly I’m the only one who hates it). Tipped Sixties Coat

Sure, it’s 80 degrees in NYC, but we’re hopeful that cool breezes will be here again — sometime. Today we’re liking this fun teal jacket from Boden — it’s “showerproof,” has a great lining, and comes in teal, purple, white, and a grayish/brownish/purplish “pewter.” It’s $138 at Boden. (Tip: if you haven’t, sign up for Boden’s newsletter — they frequently send out deals like 15% off and free shipping.) Carnaby Coat

We kind of forgot about Boden until a catalog came out the other day — and there are some really great, wearable (and affordable) pieces in their spring line! One of our favorites is this cotton voile top in a rose pattern that, according to Boden, was inspired by a vintage store find in LA. We like the semi-fitted nature of it, the placket and buttons, and, really, the whole vibe. We think it would look great with trousers and a boyfriend or shawl cardigan (preferably one without buttons). Available in navy, mercury gray, grass green, and watermelon pink, all for $58 at Bodenusa.com. Vintage Rose Top

We have a thing for yellow raincoats, we’ll admit it. It’s nasty and gray and pouring outside, and there you are in your happy yellow raincoat, dry and cheerful. This yellow jacket from Boden is perfect for the job — not only is it $50, but we love the blue polka-dot lining. If you don’t share our affection for yellow jackets, however (whaaaaaat?) then rest assured: the cuteness comes in beige (with red polka-dotted lining) and navy (with yellow polka-dotted lining).
