Classiques Entier

iconiconFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

We nearly chose this skirt for this morning’s TPS, until we realized it was part of a suit set — and what a lovely suit set it is.  We like the little unusual details, like the pintucks on the skirt, the wrap on the jacket, and off center buttons on the wide waistband of the pants.  The jacket (Classiques Entier ‘Pin Dot Stripe’ Jacket) is $268, and the skirt (Classiques Entier ‘Pin Dot Stripe’ Skirt) is $148. Pants (not pictured) are also available (Classiques Entier ‘Madison – Pin Dot Stripe’ Pants) for $158.  All pieces available at Nordstrom, in sizes 0-16.

Reader T writes to us to recommend this gorgeous blue jacket: “I had been stalking it online for weeks and it just went on sale, so I made the plunge and bought it. The color is a gorgeous vivid blue and while I am normally not a fan of the current ruffles trend, the fact that it is on the bottom of the jacket makes it look classy. The jacket runs true to size.” That blue is absolutely gorgeous, we must agree, and the cropped, ruffled bottom would be particularly striking on a woman with a longer torso. We might try it with a dash of a pale, pale yellow thrown in, or perhaps a mint green. It’s on sale for $135 (was $228), available in sizes XS-XL at Nordstrom. Classiques Entier Woven Jacket

P.S. Please remember, we’ll be in Louisville, KY all day today for our event with AK Anne Klein and InStyle, so comment moderation may be slow (or, at least, subject to the whims of our, um, staffers). (Hi Dad!) Also, remember, today is Administrative Assistant’s Day — we recommend some sort of external sign of affection/gratitude, such as a flower arrangement, for your secretaries. (However, as always, please feel free to discuss in comments!) (And — joy, it looks like the posts aren’t going up according to the scheduler for some reason… yay. We’ll do our best anyway today!)

It seems like we are posting a zillion gray suits in 2010, and we apologize — it isn’t intentional.  (But then, it wasn’t intentional to post so many purple suits in 2009, so who knows.)  Still:  Here’s another beautiful, beautiful suit.  We love the detailing, from the rounded lapels and wide neckline, to the insets below the waistband.   The jacket (Classiques Entier ‘Sketchy Melange’ Jacket) is $268, and the pants (Classiques Entier ‘Sketchy Melange – Midtown’ Pants) are $158. A skirt, not pictured (Classiques Entier ‘Sketchy Melange’ Pencil Skirt) is also available also for $148.  All pieces are available in sizes 0-16.

Today’s dress was recommended by reader A, who notes: “I just ordered this dress and love the simple but flattering cut. It’s also long enough for work & fabric can be hand washed/machine washed (though it says dry clean). Would look lovely on its own, or with a navy blazer on top. The colour is what made me go “wow!” – it would flatter practically every skin tone – from very dark to porcelain-skinned redheads! At over $200 (free shipping though), bit expensive but I think this one’s worth it.”  We think it looks lovely, and might also suggest trying it with a charcoal blazer to mute some of the color for the office. It’s $228 at Nordstrom. Classiques Entier ‘Ultimate Weave’ Dress

Loooving this dress from the Classiques Entier line at Nordstrom.  Love the color, the detailing at the waist, and we even feel like the little bow/sash hanging down gives the dress some vertical lines, making it more slimming.  Love.  We’d accessorize it with black, with a single bold red accent piece (a necklace, a cardigan).  It’s $228 at Nordstrom in sizes 0-16.  Classiques Entier ‘Chain Weave’ Dress

Happy Thursday!  Today we’re liking this cashmere merino wool cowl neck sweater.  It strikes us as a great transition piece as we swing into spring, and we like the way the cowl almost looks like an infinity scarf around the neck.  We’d probably wear it with a brooch, and perhaps try a belt over it as well.  It’s on sale at Nordstrom’s — was $128, now $75, still available in sizes S-XL in red and a dusky blue.  Classiques Entier ‘Bella Lana’ Cowl Neck Sweater
