For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.
If you’re in the market for a lady tuxedo this season, my vote goes to this chic one from Diane von Furstenberg. Those cool lapels (moire) and almost a boyish cut to it — it’s very, very cool. I think the jacket would look nice on top of a sheath dress as well as worn with the pants. The jacket (Diane von Furstenberg Meyer Tuxedo Blazer
) is $465, and the pants (Diane von Furstenberg Tailor Tuxedo Pants
) are $345.

Haaaapy Monday! I’m loving this silk crepe dress from Diane von Furstenberg. I like the splitneck (which can be worn open, like a V, or closed, like a keyhole), and the knee length, loose skirt (which can be worn belted or not). The tiered pleats on the bodice seem interesting yet timeless. It comes in light mauve (pictured) and chili, and sells for $425 at Saks, Bloomingdale’s, Bergdorf Goodman, and Net-a-Porter. Happy Monday! I love the look of this printed blouse from Diane von Furstenberg. It looks wonderfuly drapey and blousey, and I love the black on white on gray pattern. I could see this tucked into a high-waisted pair of pants and worn beneath a suit jacket, or just worn by itself with a pencil skirt or perhaps some slim pants (cigarette, even, if your office allows). The blouse is $285 (most sizes available at Neiman Marcus as of this AM). B Louche Applique Blouse

Love this sheath from Diane von Furstenberg today — the puff cap sleeves look lovely and chic, and the seaming details are interesting. Personally I prefer the “navy” (which, honestly, looks to me to be more of a dark green) but the “cayenne” (pictured) is nice as well. It’s $365 at Saks Fifth Avenue. Helen Suiting Dress

I always feel like outerwear is a good place to invest because a) you can wear it every day during the season, and b) if you invest well, you’ll have it for years. Today I’m liking this slightly different take on the classic trench from Diane von Furstenberg — the ruffle is interesting, yet not too frilly or clown-like. I also like the way the jacket looks different depending on whether it’s worn open or closed, as well as when the top button is closed. It’s $565 at Bergdorf Goodman (and at Bloomingdale’s
as well). Ruffled Trench Coat

Reader A recommends this lovely silk blouse by Diane von Furstenberg, noting that “this top is great for work/with jeans. It’s a non-wrap DvF top in silk jersey. Tends to gape a bit on my curvy self even though I sized up – which I do in DvF – but very sleek all the same. Can slip on over head due to stretchy jersey so sewing the placket may be an option for curvy ladies. Tag says ‘dry clean’ but I always handwash DvF stuff.” It looks like a great classic, and is a nice change from all of the horizontal stripes I’m seeing for spring (and far more flattering). It’s $245 at dvf.com. Fatima Top in Ropes
