Donna Ricco Belted Cowl Neck Jersey Dress
iconReader E found this on the Nordstrom site and “fell in love. It looks wonderfully cozy, yet sophisticated and professional as well.” We like it! We like that it’s meant to fit a bit looser than so many dresses out there today, and yet still does look professional.  We like the accessorizing possiblites, also — a brooch worn high on the cowl, or perhaps a bracelet to accent the bracelet sleeves… lovely.  It’s $118 at Nordstrom, available in sizes 2 through 14. Nordstrom has a ton of cute work-appropriate dresses in the $150 and under range right now.  We’re really liking this simple black faux wrap dress which, apparently, is almost a “stretchy denim material,” according to the one reviewer (who raved about the dress).  We like the collar, we like that it’s lined, and we like the ladylike length of it.  Lovely.  It’s $118 at Nordstrom in sizes 4-14.   Donna Ricco Ruched Cotton Dress

Reader J wrote to us with a question about the plus-sized version of this dress: “What do you think about this? Sometimes its hard to know how it would drape but I think (from the picture) that it has good structure.  I think I really like the print and am 5’10 so I can usually pull a print off. But at the same time I also kind of hate the print/think it could look ugly.  What do you think?  Could I get away with this at work, is it ugly?”  We agree that prints can be very case-by-case — one print will look great on one girl, but hideous on another — and florals are a big trend right now, so this is something we should talk about.  Here, we like the more abstract nature of the pattern, as well as the strong emphasis on dark brown and purple — for the office, we would focus on picking up those colors in a cardigan or blazer.  As always with Donna Ricco, we do love the structure (all of our DR dresses are slimming and comfortable, but without the need for massive shapewear).  You can get it at Nordstrom for $118 (in regular sizes) or $128 (in plus sizes).  Donna Ricco Split Neck Stretch Cotton Sheath Dress

Readers, what are your thoughts on wearing florals to the office?

iconWe’re normally against cowlnecks for work, if only because the neckline makes it difficult to add a cardigan or jacket on top of it. But this dress is too lovely not to include. We love the gentle pattern, the nearly elbow-length sleeves, and the slight pleats in the skirt. Ladylike and serious, without being severe. Lovely. It’s available at Nordstrom’s for $158. Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend. iconGreat dress from Donna Rico, and the pattern is close to perfect. It’s primarily vertical, which promises to be flattering; and the pattern itself is bold, but comprised of muted colors, which lets you get away with it at work. We’d wear it with a white cardigan or a cropped jacket, and maybe one or two long, simple necklaces. It’s $118 at Nordstrom. Donna Ricco Sleeveless Sheath Dress

iconIt’s no secret we love a good sheath dress. Yet this one still stands out as something new and unexpected, if only because it’s such a great, sophisticated — yet young! — color to wear with, well, so many other jackets and cardigans. Gray, navy, black, beige — even dark purple if you’re feeling adventurous. $138 at Nordstrom’s. Donna Ricco Scoop Back Ponte Knit Sheath Dress
