Lovely sheath dress from Elie Tahari, which I first spied at Bloomingdale’s (on sale in black in limited sizes) – but then I realized Lord & Taylor had all 3 colors, more sizes, and a deeper discount: score. A bright blue sheath dress can be an interesting twist on a basic: the color will definitely make it noticeable (and memorable — you probably can’t wear this one more than once every two weeks!) but it’s still just as versatile and easy as the original. I like the color, and would pair it with very different colors to make different outfits: perhaps a neutral (black, navy, beige) blazer with pumps for one, or perhaps a moss green long cardigan (with boots, perhaps, if your office allows) for another, or even layered beneath a simple crewneck sweater in navy or purple for a colorblocked effect. 6pm is having some great sales on women’s designer clothes — tons of brands like Ports 1961, Joie, and more. There isn’t much in the “under $50″ category (which is what the Friday TPS usually is), but I like this simple jersey knit from Elie Tahari. The twist details are high up on the neck, and I can see this being a great basic beneath a caridgan or even a blazer. I like this jacket — it’s interesting, a classic in black and white, and you get two in one, because it’s reversible. One side is this tweed (pictured), and the other is a shadowy flower pattern. I’d wear the jacket with black trousers or on top of a black sheath dress, and maybe add a pop of color in my earrings or shoes. Was $498, now $298 at Lord & Taylor’s (only select sizes left).
