Halogen

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Halogen® 'Heartland' Tweed Sheath DressNordstrom has a number of great dresses marked down to the $60 range, including this attractive tweed sheath dress, perfect for cold weather.  We’d pair it with a bright emerald or royal blue cardigan for a more casual fall day, or perhaps a winter white blazer and dark tights for a more wintery day.  Lovely.  It was $118, now $59 (sizes 6-16 still available). We love this lightweight sheath dress.  The color of the gray feels more spring than fall to us, and the flower applique on the belt helps that impression.  (We’re guessing the belt can be removed pretty easily if you don’t like the look, although you might try to save the flower to wear as a brooch.)  We’d wear it with a structured jacket or, perhaps, a cardigan (the yellow cashmere one from Banana Republic that we featured week or so ago, for example).  It’s $118 at Nordstrom (which just began a shoe clearance, incidentally).  Halogen ‘Night Shift’ Sheath Dress

Suit of the Week

in Fashion, Suits

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

We like this basic gray suit from Halogen, available at Nordstrom’s. We like the wide trousers, the double collar, and the black buttons. We’d probably skip the untucked floral blouse and wear a pastel tee instead. The jacket (Halogen Three Button Blazer) is $138, and the pants (Halogen Wide Leg Trousers) are $88. Available in sizes 2-16.

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

iconWe like this colorful top from Nordstrom’s Halogen line. The vertical stripes are flattering, and the purple is subdued but youthful. We’d wear it with gray slacks and a black cardigan or cropped jacket. It’s $48 at Nordstrom.com. Halogen Print Surplice Tee

We love this cashmere cardigan from Nordstrom’s Halogen line. The cashmere won’t be top notch for this price, but the print is adorable — fun and lively, with just enough of a vertical bent to be flattering as well — and the colors are young and fresh. Wear it with a collared shirt, as shown, or perhaps with a black shell beneath it for the office. We’d add a more traditional piece of jewelry, like good pearls, to complete the look. It’s available at Nordstrom’s website for $98. Halogen Pattern Cashmere Cardigan
