Zappos seems to have a number of Kate Spade items marked down still, and this Serena hobo caught my eye. I like the black and white print here — I don’t think it’s properly a “zebra” print, but it does remind me of an animal print in general. I like that it’s black and white (very versatile) but a little wild (animal) — I also like the chain detailing on the strap. It was $325, and is currently marked to $260. Nice! Coffee Break – No Slouch Medium Hobo

A few months ago, I attended a press event for Kenneth Cole (actually a really lovely dinner hosted by KC himself) and all of the bloggers got to choose one piece to take home with them. I got this suede bag in a purpley pink and I have to say it’s really lovely. The suede is so much more interesting than I was expecting for the price point — it’s textured and soft and oh-so-touchable, and the studs on the top handle make it easy to carry and grab. The bag itself is nice and roomy, but slouchy enough that it doesn’t seem huge if it’s only half-full. It’s available in brown suede at the Kenneth Cole website, but you can also get in a multitude of plain leather at 6pm and Amazon. The brown suede is $328. I recently had a chance to check out Ralph Lauren’s new handbag line, and I was impressed with the quality of the bags as well as the reasonable prices. Like this great hobo, the bags all have a slightly edgy look to them but with a timeless, classy appeal. This bag is $398 at Bloomingdale’s (available in both black and brown). Coffee Break: Tara Hobo

6pm.com is having a handbag blowout today, including this great basic hobo from Elie Tahari — available in aqua (pictured), as well as dark shades of blue, brown, purple, green, and red — and more. They were $448, now marked to $150 (today only). We like the brighter colors to add a bit of punch to an otherwise drab outfit, or the darker colors as a lovely basic (the brown is particularly lovely). Steven by Steve Madden Sun Kiss Hobo We like this simple blue hobo by Steven — it’s a great size to fit your latest paperback or a few papers from the office, as well as all your stuff. It comes in black, red and blue (at Endless) and brown (at Piperlime), but we love that dark blue color, pictured — perfect for one of the many (many) khaki or white trench coats we’ve seen this season.
