Giorgio Armani Exclusive Striped One-Button JacketHappy Tuesday! I am absolutely loving the wide stripes and the high button on this Giorgio Armani jacket. The interplay of the stripes is fascinating to me — the vertical stripes (of the arms, the shoulders, and just behind the button) contrast beautifully with the diagonal stripes, and I love that the diagonal lines on the lapel go in a different direction than the diagonal lines on the body. Fabulous. Was $2295, marked to $918 (lucky sizes only). Giorgio Armani Exclusive Striped One-Button Jacket

Armani Collezioni Ruffled Tweed JacketI like all Armani stuff, but for some reason this ruffled tweed jacket is totally calling my name. I like the fitted silhouette, the slight flare to the jacket from the waist down, the basic but interesting pattern in the tweed, and the fringes and ruffles on the lapels, sleeves, and collar. It’s $1525 at Saks Fifth Avenue. Ruffled Tweed Jacket

Prada black wool blend boat neck jacketLoving the look of this boatneck blazer from Prada. Boat neck jackets can be tricky to pull off for the office, if only because you don’t want your bra to be poking out, but you also don’t want bare shoulders where your bra should be. I think for work I’d wear this with a wide-necked t-shirt, so the space between where my bra begins and the jacket begins is completely covered in fabric. The jacket was $1510 at retail, but due to the Designers Gone Wild Sale going on at Bluefly it’s now marked to $963.04. Prada Black Wool Blend Boat Neck Jacket

Gap's Soft TrenchGap is introducing a new exciting kind of sale on March 5:  the Flashion sale.  This is great news for you if you’ve been addicted to the “flash sample sale” craze that has been sweeping the Internet for a few years now — except with this campaign, there will be one must-have item of the season on sale, for one day only, in stores, at a special price.

The first must-have item for the first Flashion sale? This great Soft Trench from Gap, available in both gray (pictured) and black.  Normally $89.95, it will be marked to $50, in stores, for one day only — March 5.  The belted trench is always a classic, and I think this one would look particularly great as a light spring jacket with a pencil skirt on the bottom, or a pair of fitted pair of trousers — and it feels like it would instantly make a “working on the weekend” outfit of skinny jeans, flats, and a t-shirt that much more professional.  Readers, how would you wear it?

This post is sponsored by Gap, but written by your regular blogger, Kat Griffin.

Carnaby CoatSure, it’s 80 degrees in NYC, but we’re hopeful that cool breezes will be here again — sometime.  Today we’re liking this fun teal jacket from Boden — it’s “showerproof,” has a great lining, and comes in teal, purple, white, and a grayish/brownish/purplish “pewter.”  It’s $138 at Boden.  (Tip: if you haven’t, sign up for Boden’s newsletter — they frequently send out deals like 15% off and free shipping.)  Carnaby Coat

iconiconFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

There are a ton of summery suits out there right now — we considered two separate white suits (which ultimately struck us as a little too reminiscent of a grandmother’s wartime “I’m getting married” suit) and a seersucker suit (which we may still post at some point).  Ultimately, we fell in love with this gorgeous set from Rebecca Taylor, although we do wish it were just a skirt instead of a dress, both to give it much more wearability as well as to lessen the drycleaning requirement.  Still:  the gray is flattering, the “blouse” is interesting, and the jacket — man, we love the ruffles and the ribbon trim on the jacket — the whole effect is detailed and interesting without being too girly: a tough feat when we’re talking ribbons and ruffles.  The jacket (Rebecca Taylor Ribbon Trim Jacket) is $395, and the dress (Rebecca Taylor ‘Work-to-Date’ Mock Two Piece Dress) is $375; both available at Nordstrom.
