I’d wear it to jazz up a ton of simple shapes — the black turtleneck, a solid colored cardigan or boatneck sweater — and even as part of a more layered look, such as with a crisp button front blouse, open to mid-chest, with a meant-to-be-seen tank top or camisole beneath it. A few months ago, I attended a press event for Kenneth Cole (actually a really lovely dinner hosted by KC himself) and all of the bloggers got to choose one piece to take home with them. I got this suede bag in a purpley pink and I have to say it’s really lovely. The suede is so much more interesting than I was expecting for the price point — it’s textured and soft and oh-so-touchable, and the studs on the top handle make it easy to carry and grab. The bag itself is nice and roomy, but slouchy enough that it doesn’t seem huge if it’s only half-full. It’s available in brown suede at the Kenneth Cole website, but you can also get in a multitude of plain leather at 6pm and Amazon

We’re liking this structured jacket by Kenneth Cole New York right now. We like the single button and long collar, and the padded shoulders look modern and on-trend, reminiscent of the sharper, almost comical Balmain shoulders. It’s $99 at Nordstrom in sizes 4-14. Maybe it’s cheesy, but when we interview, we love wearing French blue beneath a black suit. It’s our feminine take on a man’s shirt — not as feminine as pink or some other pastel, not as stark as white. This top is a great one for that purpose: the ruching is flattering without being distracting, and the neckline is nice and high. The price is right, too — it’s $39 at Nordstrom.com.
