But let’s focus, instead, on the fact that the dress comes in a subdued blue “midnight” as well as a black color. Reader R wrote in to recommend the dress in midnight, noting “I’m wearing it today with black tights and booties. The dress is really soft and is cut really well. The belt that came with it is actually nice enough to use with other outfits as well. I look for 3 things in a dress – sleeves, machine washable, and pockets. This is two out of the three (no pockets), but at this price, I’m REALLY happy.” For my $.02, I like the boatneck and the fact that the sleeves are almost elbow length, which is difficult to find in a dress. They are reasonably priced, classic shoes with a moderate heel and the most comfortable pumps I’ve ever worn. I have them in black and a deep red croco (no longer available) and I even wore the black pumps all day walking around San Francisco and they were still comfortable. This is definitely a easy to shoe to wear.” Nice! Suit of the Week: Tahari by ASL

Tahari by ASL Suit, Two Button Jacket & SkirtFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

This suit caught my eye last week, and even though I have a few concerns about it, I was still drawn to it enough to post it today.  First, the good: I like the dark charcoal color, the slight peplum flounce effect to the jacket, the fitted look in general, and the ladylike skirt length. The bad: I’m not sure about that pattern — could be great, but it could also be a bit too loud. Still, it’s a good price if you’re interested in a grayish skirt suit — now marked to $179, down from $280 (sizes 2-18 still available). The suit (Tahari by ASL Suit, Two Button Jacket & Skirt) is on sale for $179 at Macy’s.

I like this brown ruched jacket from Tahari by ASL — the peplum jacket looks flattering and classic, and could be worn with a multitude of other things (I’m seeing it with black trousers and, perhaps, a deep red sweater beneath), as well as with the matching pants. Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Charter Club Skirt, A-Line Printed

Charter Club Skirt, A-Line PrintedWe don’t usually go for polyester skirts, but something about this one is calling to us — love the lattice print, the A-line, the at-the-knee length — it all seems lovely (especially for the price). We’d wear it with a dark red cardigan, or perhaps a shrunken blazer. Was $60, now $34.99 at Macy’s. Charter Club Skirt, A-Line Printed.
