Tuesday’s TPS Report: Juke Box Tweed Jacket

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Nanette Lepore Juke Box Tweed JacketI first saw this jacket a few weeks ago, looking for a Suit of the Week, and every time I come back to it I’m wowed by it — the colors! the shape! the style! It’s just gorgeous. Love the tweed, love the interplay of the horizontal and diagonal stripes, and I love the shrunken feel to it. ShopBop has it styled in a more casual way, but as you can tell from Bergdorf’s website it would also look great with more conservative duds. It’s $428 at both. Nanette Lepore Juke Box Tweed Jacket

Suit of the Week: Nanette Lepore

Nanette Lepore 'Sultry' JacketFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

The skirt is what stands out most to me about this suit (which is, alas, probably why the skirt is not on sale even though the jacket is) — I love that little asymmetrical ruffle, as well as the fact that it has a bit of stretch. The jacket looks like a great basic, also — all those buttons and the vertical seams make it interesting without being fussy. The jacket (Nanette Lepore ‘Sultry’ Jacket) was $498, but is now marked to $248.90, and the skirt (Nanette Lepore ‘Betrayal’ Skirt) is still full price at $248.

This Nanette Lepore suit has a lot going for it — it’s a classic gray color but with enough quirky details to make it interesting and, I think, flattering. Love the peplum flounce to the jacket, as well as the side pleats to the skirt. The jacket (Nanette Lepore Long Sleeve Star Bright Jacket) is $398, and the skirt (Nanette Lepore Pleated Shining Skirt) is $248.

Wednesday’s TPS Report: Big Boss Polka Dot Blouse

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.  Today’s guest post is from Capitol Hill Style.

Nanette Lepore Big Boss Polka Dot BlouseI love end-of-season sales, so I was thrilled to find this delicate, Swiss-dot blouse from Nanette Lepore ($149, Nanette Lepore Big Boss Polka Dot Blouse) on the Bergdorf’s sale site.

For the remainder of August, I’ll wear it with a navy pencil skirt, a coral necklace and flesh-toned pumps. And when the weather turns chilly, I’ll wear it under v-neck cardigans to add a bit of texture at the neckline.

Be advised, Nanette does run a bit small. I typically wear a size 4, but I bought the six and splurged on $25 in tailoring to make sure the fit was just right.

I am loving this simple suit from Nanette Lepore. The jacket feels a bit shorter, and the tie-back belt a bit higher and looser, than most, and I like those details — they make the jacket interesting and unique. The flared skirt looks like a nice alternative to the pencil skirt, and a great basic. The jacket (Kentucky Derby Jacket) is $398, and the skirt (Hot-To-Trot Skirt) is $198 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Magic Wand Knit Jacket

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Nanette Lepore Magic Wand Knit JacketSaks has a ton of cute, work-appropriate things on sale right now (although only limited sizes are left in a lot of it) — including this great sweater jacket from Nanette Lepore. I love the creamy color, the elasticized center back waist, and the wide lapels. While I’m not normally a “bow” girl, I do like the bow details on the pockets; they add interest without being too frilly or girly. The jacket was $398, now marked to $278 (size S only, alas!).
