For today’s TPS Report, I like the silky, drapey look of this Trina Turk faux wrap dress — particularly the longer sleeves and the banded cuffs, which I think give it a nice blousy feel; the pleating in the back, and the tonal waistband. Frugal Friday’s TPS Report: Rosette Draped Cardigan

Elliott Lauren Rosette Draped CardiganIf you’re a fan of the draped cardigan, I can’t recommend this cardigan enough. I bought it about eight months ago in the “azalea” color (pictured) because it was on deep discount, and promptly fell in love with it — it’s a really high quality cotton (super soft), the seaming around the waist gives it a fitted look of sorts (and it looks more fitted from behind, too), and it washes up ridiculously well. It must have been popular because they added more colors and sizes, and put the price back up to full price — and it’s only now come down.  (I just bought the “ocean,” a bright, happy teal.)  For a casual business day, I’d wear the pinky/coral one with a pair of black bootcut pants or cigarette pants, a black tee, and a dark blue statement necklace. The cardigan was $165, but is now $57 — lots of sizes still available in all three colors. (And if you like the twinset look: the matching tank was $80, now $28.) Suit of the Week: Albert Nipon

Albert Nipon Tweed SuitFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

OK: let’s ignore the model, who perhaps had a Big Gulp before they started the shoot. Or something. Anyway: I like this suit. It’s just a leeetle bit different — the slight flounce to the jacket, the wide cuffs on the blazer, and the lovely texture to the tweed. It’s $395 at Neiman Marcus. Albert Nipon Tweed Suit

Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Cashmere Knit Jacket

Happy Monday!  I am loving this simple blazer from Akris. The color is unusual, but not so quirky that you’re limited in when you can wear it. I love (love!) the double pocket, as well as the darts for fit. I’d wear it with a burgundy silk blouse and, perhaps, brown pants. It’s $3,990 at Neiman Marcus (limited sizes only, alas). Thursday’s TPS Report: Pleated-Neck Tee

Pleated-Neck TeeLast Call by Neiman Marcus seems to have a number of cute basics from Lafayette 148 New York on sale today, including this lovely green shirt. Yes, $75 is pricey for a t-shirt (on sale), but I have a feeling this is the kind of shirt you’ll have in your closet for at least 5 years. I like the pleat details at the neck, the boldness of the colors, and the formfitting jersey. I’d go preppy with it and wear it with a navy pencil skirt and, perhaps, gold accessories — or perhaps a bit wild with it and pair it with black trousers and a purple waterfall cardigan.
