Reader M wrote in to request this dress from Talbots, suggesting to pair it with a black jacket. We like! The dark green color is somber without being boring, as is the other colors the dress comes in, a purplish “cherry brandy” and black. For our $.02, we’d pair it with something other than black — a dark gray, or a navy would be a fun way to play with colors. It’s nice that it comes in regulars, petites, and women’s sizes, as well. It’s $159 at Talbots. Ponte knit belted sheath

We are loving this navy dress from Banana Republic — it’s simple, classic, and likely to be flattering — we even like how the sleeves are actual sleeves and not cap sleeves. Lovely. It’s $150 at Banana Republic in regulars, talls, and petites.Banana Republic Lightweight wool navy textured sheath dress

We just got this dress, and while we’ll admit that it will be too casual for most conservative offices, we were really impressed with what it is for a $25 dress. The fabric is nice (although a little on the thin side — glad we got the navy), the waist is just the right height, and it flatters curves while keeping a ladylike, knee-length look. The navy is on sale for $25 at Gap.com (online only) in sizes XS-XXL, petites, and talls. Gap Slub Tank Dress

- I keep forgetting to mention this: I’m coming to Dallas on July 23, and thinking of throwing a meet-up at a bar or some such in the evening. A) Would you come, dear Dallas readers, and B) Where would you suggest?

Reader J wrote in to recommend this dress from Talbots, noting “I like the little sleeves, which you’ve turned me on to; the just-above-the-knee length; and the flattering but comfortable fit. Women with great abs would probably find it loose in the tummy area, but it’s just right for me. And, it’s available in petites.” We also love the boatneck neckline and the simplicity of the dress — you could accessorize it in a lot of different ways. Reader J got green; it’s also available in pink, orange, and black. It’s $99 at Talbots (available on the web only). Yoke-neck knit sheath

We’re liking this lovely white cardigan from J. Jill. We like that the fabric is a mix of silk, cotton, and cashmere — all comfy, all handwashable — and we like the muted print. We’d wear it with a white tee, and a pencil skirt, and perhaps add a brown belt on top. It’s $79 at J. Jill (was $89) in regular, petites, and women’s sizes. Batik Garden Cardigan

We saw this in white in Real Simple a few weeks ago, and it definitely caught our eye — the clean lines, the cute pockets, the ladylike shape. Today, we’re liking the yellow version, as it strikes us as a fun way to add a pop of color to an otherwise drab outfit of hues like navy, white, or gray. (It’s also available in a great fuschia pink.) It’s $169 at Talbots, in sizes 2-20 in petites, women’s, and women’s petites. The ruffled-pocket boucle jacket
