Chloe Dao was one of our favorite contestants on Project Runway in seasons past — her clothes always struck us as beautiful yet wearable. She’s designing a line for QVC and is keeping with that aesthetic, including this lovely silk cut-out top. We like the sleeves, the silk, the cut-outs and the bright colors (it’s available in both orange and a deep teal). We’d wear it with a gray or navy pencil skirt for the office. It’s $40.82 (was $56) at QVC.com. Simply. Chloe Dao Washable Silk Scoop Neck Cut-Out Top

Love this deep red dress from Kay Unger. Love the cap sleeves and the material (a woven silk, which won’t wrinkle quite as easily as plain silk), and we like the little lapels on the neckline of the dress. It’s part of Bluefly’s extra 10% off sale going on today — so it was $375, then marked to $224, but for today only it’s $201.60. Nice! Kay Unger red silk belted cap sleeve dress

We’re liking this lovely white cardigan from J. Jill. We like that the fabric is a mix of silk, cotton, and cashmere — all comfy, all handwashable — and we like the muted print. We’d wear it with a white tee, and a pencil skirt, and perhaps add a brown belt on top. It’s $79 at J. Jill (was $89) in regular, petites, and women’s sizes. Batik Garden Cardigan

Today’s shirt was actually recommended in the comments a while back — as a reminder, ladies, if you find anything in your browsing/shopping/buying that seems great for the TPS report, please pass it on! In any event, we do like this beautiful silk top from Talbots — it’s like a more dressed-up version of a t-shirt, and we love that it has sleeves. (We also love that it comes in petites, plus, and plus-sized petites.) It’s also on sale — as are a number of other great pieces, so browse around. Was $80, now $37.50 at Talbots. Urban Outfitters isn’t in our usual hit list for the TPS report, we’ll admit, but today we are liking this slouchy, stripey silk blouse from Sparkle & Fade. We’d wear it with a black pencil skirt, a long opera-length necklace, and perhaps a pair of flats with just a bit of a point to the toe — maybe in a color, otherwise just a black or skin-toned shoe. We like the “hair up” look with the boatnecked neckline, for whatever reason, so we’re also seeing it with a low, slightly messy bun for the workday. The top is $54 at Urban Outfitters (sizes XS-L). Reader P writes in to recommend this silk top from Nanette Lepore, which, she notes, “works in so many ways and perfect on an hour-glass figure.” We like it also (particularly the combo of silk and stud detailing), but the obvious point here is to know your office — in a more conservative office this would work best under a buttoned-up suit, with very traditional pumps — remove the jacket to take it from desk to dinner. Otherwise, we’d wear it with a pencil skirt, or perhaps a high-waisted skirt. It’s on sale at Saks, marked from $248 to $185. Whip It Silk Top
