This dress intrigues me. I like the accordion pleats, as well as the high, U-shaped neckline trimmed in silk, and I like the fact that it’s made of J.Crew’s suiting wool — the whole effect takes what might be a schoolgirl-ish skirt and turns it into an interesting dress. To avoid the schoolgirl look, though, I would probably stick to black tights — perhaps even tall boots, if those are acceptable at your office. On top, I’d keep it simple with a tight-fitting silk cardigan, perhaps with an interesting belt over the entire ensemble. Readers, how would you wear it? It’s $225 at J.Crew (available in dark heather gray, pictured, and a much lighter “warm buff”). Accordion dress in Super 120s

OK: Let’s all agree to ignore the styling (unless you have something really witty to say, in which case, bring it on). Still: this is a fabulous dress. Love the sleeves, the darts in the “fitted bodice,” the slight A-line to the skirt — and the fact that it comes in this lovely blue, as well as two different colors of gray, black, and even a navy pinstripe. Fabulous. It’s $178 at JCrew.com ($188 for the pinstripe), in regulars and petites. Super 120s banquette dress

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.
Man, online stores have nothing by way of an interesting suit this week. Which means that we’re going to go with a lovely basic — this J.Crew super 120s combo of a peplum jacket and fluted skirt. After all, we love a good peplum jacket, as well as a good wool like super 120s. The jacket (Super 120s peplum jacket) is $188, and the skirt (Super 120s fluted skirt) is $118.

Reader E brought this dress and matching jacket to our attention, noting with excitement that “J Crew came out with some cute twists on normal suit pieces.” We agree — we love that the dress is only slightly embellished with some subtle black on black “petals” at the placket. We also love the fact that the pieces are made of four-season merino wool, and that there are multiple pieces (jackets, dresses, pants) in matching fabric. The dress (Super 120s papillion dress) is $195; the jacket (Super 120s Lizza jacket) is $230.
