Happy Monday! I’m digging this simple black dress from Donna Karan New York. As always, I’m particularly fond of the details — the red and white contrast trim at the cuffs and hem. The bones of the dress look great too, especially considering that elbow-length sleeves are hard to find. The dress is $1,295 at Bloomingdale’s. Donna Karan New York Contrast Lined Dress

I think this may be the first time that something from Guess is making an appearance on Corporette — yes, it’s a mall store from the 80s, but this looks like a really cute blazer. The crisp white does look perfect for a corporate meeting at a resort (or just for summertime generally) — I like the gently sloped, almost shawl-like collar, and the slight touch of gray on the lining of the sleeve. It’s $98 at Guess. Resort Boyfriend Blazer

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is on — as always, they’re marking down new fall merchandise for a limited time; prices rise after August 1. For today’s TPS I like this knit bow top. Love the ruched sleeves, the deepish V, and the fact that it’s a knit instead of a blouse. It’s available in ivory, black, espresso, magenta, and gunmetal. The price is currently $37.90 — but it will be $58 after the sale ends. Halogen® Knit Bow Top

P.S. I think I’ll do a roundup of some of my favorite pieces from the sale for the Weekend Open Thread, so stay tuned!

Happy Tuesday! I am absolutely loving the wide stripes and the high button on this Giorgio Armani jacket. The interplay of the stripes is fascinating to me — the vertical stripes (of the arms, the shoulders, and just behind the button) contrast beautifully with the diagonal stripes, and I love that the diagonal lines on the lapel go in a different direction than the diagonal lines on the body. Fabulous. Was $2295, marked to $918 (lucky sizes only). Giorgio Armani Exclusive Striped One-Button Jacket

I always like a cardigan for a casual day, and I love this creamy Leifsdottir cardigan with an ombre artsy pattern on it. I’d wear it as a layering piece with an otherwise boring outfit — say, a navy pencil skirt and a white silk tee — and perhaps pick up one of the colors in the cardigan in my pumps, such as the pink. It’s $198 at Neiman Marcus. Leifsdottir Painted Cardigan

ShopBop has a ton of great sales going on, including this silk ruffled blouse. This strikes me as a classic — yes it’ll be in sometimes (like right now with ruffles) and out sometimes (I’m sure at least one commenter will call out “pirate!”), but ultimately this is a look that will swing back around every few years, so it’ a good investment. I’d wear it with a gray pencil skirt and, perhaps, a textured, colorful blazer — purple velvet, perhaps. Was $187, now $93.50 at ShopBop. Parker Long Sleeve Ruffle Blouse
