Tuesday’s TPS Report: Davina Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Davina DressReader O writes in to rave about a purchase she made while in London: “I came across LK Bennett when I was still living and working in London and no trip to the UK is complete without a stop there. I cannot recommend this dress highly enough. It is super flattering (not only on myself but on every other woman I have seen wearing it!), the material is great, the dress is comfortable and it wears really well. I got mine in a classic black and am definitely going to get one in another colour (and I imagine the plum or indigo would really appeal to you).”  Wow — it says a lot that it’s available in 8 colors — and each one looks divine. It’s available on the LK Bennett website for £195. Davina Dress

Suit of the Week: Michael Kors

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

I know there are rules regarding winter white — do such rules exist for winter “nude”? (Their word choice, not mine.) I’m not sure, as I don’t think I’ve seen a nude-colored suit before, but this one has caught my eye for a few weeks now. (In fact, I just went through the archives to make sure I hadn’t posted it already!) It’s a really refreshing color — it’s got more pink in it than regular beige suits, and it somehow ends up looking more youthful than white. Can we collectively pray that the “halter bodysuit” it’s shown with is not a new trend — let’s just say I wouldn’t advise you to take off your jacket at any point during the workday. The jacket (Michael Kors Wool Crepe Jacket) is $1695, and the pants (Michael Kors Crepe Agyness Pants) are $895, available at Saks.

Tuesday’s TPS Report: Index Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. Today’s guest post is from Capitol Hill Style.

Index dress in wool crepeI often shop at British retailers like Karen Millen and LK Bennett for perfectly tailored dresses; our friends in the UK just have a better grasp on affordable professional attire than we do. But that might be changing.

This dress from J.Crew ($188) has a shape that is ladylike without being matronly. It also has a chic knotted-detail and a sophisticated neckline. I’d wear this vibrant red dress with simple, gold jewelry and flesh-toned pumps.

Looking for something more neutral? The dress also comes in charcoal, black and taupe. Choose the black and add a leopard print belt to incorporate one of Fall’s hottest trends. Or balance the charcoal with a jewel-toned pump for a little color. Index dress in wool crepe

Tuesday’s TPS Report: Origami sheath dress in wool crepe

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

origami dressToday I’m loving this origami sheath dress in one of J.Crew’s suiting materials, wool crepe. The slight A-line skirt — the cap sleeves — the high neckline — the beautiful folds at the neck — it all seems really lovely. It’s available in four colors (charcoal, pictured, as well as a light gray “cool dusk,” a beige “morning fog,” and a “decadent red”) at J.Crew for $188. Origami Sheath Dress

Suit of the Week: Armani Collezioni

Armani CollezioniFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

Loving the look of this simple wool crepe suit from Armani.  To me this is more of a winter white (and honestly I wish they had it in black or gray), but the simplicity is just gorgeous — love the single button and curves of the jacket, as well as the bracelet sleeves, and the contouring on the skirt and slight flare at the bottom are lovely.  The jacket (Armani Collezioni Wool Crepe Jacket) is $1245, and the skirt (Armani Collezioni Wool Crepe Pencil Skirt) is $515, both available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
