I love adventurous, saturated colors like bright yellow in super classic shapes, such as this Rag & Bone tuxedo jacket. The main question, however, is thus: How to wear it? I like it with the dark blue and white as shown here — but for the office I might try it layered with different shades of gray, such as a light gray sweater, dark charcoal pants, and silver or gunmetal accessories. It’s $495 at Saks. Rag & Bone Tuxedo Jacket

I’m not sure how I feel about the entire suit for this look (although A for effort, ASOS — a fresh take on a suit that also might fly in an office! Hooray!) but I actually quite like the gray blazer with fluorescent yellow trim. Love the flouncy details at the back, and the really classic cut with that pop of bright, bright color. It’s available at ASOS in gray/yellow and navy/orange for $99. ASOS Boyfriend Blazer With Fluro Trim

I keep coming back to this Alfani sweater at Macy’s — the yellow/lime looks fun and vibrant, and I think it would be a good match for anything from trousers, to dresses, to skinnier pants, to even jeans on the weekend. I always prefer to wear yellow with gray, rather than black — it can veer a bit towards “bumble bee” if you don’t — but maybe that’s me. The sweater is now $38.35 (formerly $59) at Macy’s. P.S. There is a non-petite version as well in a deep pink, but very limited sizes are left.

Wow: I haven’t seen a yellow leather jacket since the movie version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I love the clean, structural look to this Akris Punto jacket, though. It hadn’t occurred to me to wear yellow with beige and white, but they look great together. It’s (gulp) $2,300 at Saks. Akris Punto Leather Jacket
P.S. If you haven’t checked out the Saks FashionFix sales, please do — the sales are consistently great!

I am a fan of this jacket in almost any color but this mustard and pink combo — but alas, that’s the one they chose to put the model in, so FINE. As we segue-way into warmer weather (finally!) it always strikes me how women can express a ton of individuality and personality in outerwear. It also makes sense for it to be a bit of a splurge — after all, you may wear it multiple times a week. I like this textured cotton coat from Boden — the “tipping” on the pockets, cuffs (and even on the half-belt in the back, love!) adds a bit of interest and whimsy, and I always love a colored lining. It’s available in, well, this color (sigh), a dark blue/light blue combo (which you know I can get behind), a really subtle navy-on-navy (with pink lining) combo, and a a beige/taupe combo (also pretty subtle). Lovely. It’s $168 at Boden, most sizes still available (except the mustard, which I just noticed is sold out — clearly I’m the only one who hates it). Tipped Sixties Coat
