Frugal Friday’s Workwear Report: Sleeveless Ponte-Knit Sheath Dress

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Old Navy always has this great ponte knit sheath, which is a bestseller — but the trick is finding them when there are enough sizes in stock to recommend them to you guys. In three colors — black, a black/white stripe, and the pictured “botanical green” — there are a bunch of sizes in regular, tall, and petite. The sale colors, which are “flaming orange” and a gray/white stripe, only have lucky sizes available (no petites). There are also a few other options: long-sleeved, short-sleeved, plus-size, and maternity. The pictured style is $36.99 (sale colors $29.97) and comes in XS–XXL. Sleeveless Ponte-Knit Sheath Dress

Frugal Friday’s Workwear Report: Gibson Dress

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Knot Front Stretch Knit Body-Con DressGibson makes some of my very favorite weekend tops — crazy comfy on the inside, washable, and generally slouchy perfection. So I was kind of impressed when I saw that they were expanding into dresses — and color me crazy but doesn’t this one kind of remind you of the Armani sheath dress we posted earlier this week? Except instead of $645, this one is $45 (and after the sale it’ll go back to being $68). It comes in four colors in regular and petite sizes, with another two colors in plus sizes. Nice. Knot Front Stretch Knit Body-Con Dress

Wednesday’s Workwear Report: Karen Kane Three Quarter Sleeve Jersey Cascade Faux Wrap Dress

stretchy cozy comfortable machine-washable dress for work Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

This stretchy, cozy, washable dress has been in our Workwear Hall of Fame for some time, but I’m not sure we’ve ever featured it in plus sizes (only regular). Every year it comes out in new iterations — different colors, different prints, different sleeves. Nordstrom has the basics in neutral black and navy in regular and plus sizes for $108-$124, while Amazon has options as low as $27.  Karen Kane Three Quarter Sleeve Jersey Cascade Faux Wrap Dress

Frugal Friday’s Workwear Report: Cropped Blazer

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

To me, this doesn’t really seem like a “cropped” blazer as it’s labeled, as much as a fitted/shrunken blazer. (Although it does look a little shorter in the back.) I like the darts and the very simple collar, and I think it would make a great basic. It comes in plus (0X–2X) and regular (XS–XL) sizes; the former is on sale for $49.99 from $70, and the latter, $43.99 from $64. The blazer is made from a rayon/nylon/spandex blend, so it has a bit of stretch, and it’s machine washable. Simply Vera Vera Wang Cropped Blazer
