We all know what basics professional women are supposed to have in their closets, but if you’re buying one for the first time or replacing one you’ve worn into the ground, it can be a pain to find exactly the right incarnation in stores. In “The Hunt,” we search the stores for a basic item that every woman should have.
Yes, everyone knows that you can get Manolo or Cole Haan nude beige pumps — but if those don’t work for you for some reason (too expensive, too high), here are some other options on the market at the moment…

I love nude shoes–they elongate the line of the ankle and leg, and look great with a black suit. I’d like to suggest a similar fave combo: Khaki suits with tan leather shoes for summer.
As for the color debate, to Woman of Color and other angry people, this is a FASHION BLOG! Not exactly an appropriate forum to unleash your lifelong resentments or political agendas. I am sure the editors of Corporette had no intention to discriminate against you.

The generated dialogue (whether or not nude is politically correct) is just the dialogue I was hoping to get started. I am encouraged that many who perhaps never thought about the issue are pondering it now. Kudos to you for thinking outside the box.

Okey-dokey. Well, I’m not caucausian nude OR african-american “nude,” so what am I supposed to be wearing? I bought a pair of “nude” colored pumps from Target. I went home, proud to have a nice corporate pair of shoes, then lo-and-behold, were told that they looked ugly because they didn’t match my skin color.
So… give a shout-out to the Asians too. We’re short and yellow, and would like to figure out where “sand” colored-shoes may be located.

I’ve just recently realize a nude color pump goes well with alot of different colors/ clothes.
So im searching hide and low for a good pair with low heel, still searching.
Upon reading this post, i have a question…does the “nude” color pump have to match my skin tone in order for it to look good?
I thought nude just means something in light sand, beige, cream..neutral color.

I want the nude / suede look – platform pumps. I saw Mila Kunich wear some that I would love to find…

As a woman of color, I’m opposed to the idea of having “Women of Color” features – it’s so Black History Month-ish to me. (I must add that, by no means am I trying to speak on behalf of every woman of color on the planet – just myself.)
Why not make it a point to just include a variety of women of different with different shades and heritages instead? This may also reduce the chances of the Corporette readership drawing the conclusion that authors are just trying to meet quotas like “police officers issuing tickets at the end of each month.”
