I like the look of this Dragon Diffusion bag — and they're selling like hotcakes now that they're back in stock; NET-A-PORTER lists half their stock of DD bags as being bestsellers.
There are a lot of cute totes and cute shoulder bags — I like a slightly bigger bag so this one looks perfect.
NET-A-PORTER has this bag in 6 colors for $478, including tan, black, green, ivory, brown, and burgundy, but they have a lot of options in stock from Dragon Diffusion in general right now. You can also find some options at ShopBop, Revolve, Bloomingdale's, and DragonDiffusion.com.

I have a pair of classic tapered dress pants that I need hemmed. I am short with short legs. I’m trying to decide whether the hem should be at the top of my foot / below the ankle bone or above the ankle bone so the slimmest part of my ankle shows. Any advice? These are nice pants that I don’t want to mess up!
Right at the ankle bone.
Has anyone here had filler that migrated, and if so what did you do about it? How far did it migrate?
I’ve never had filler but my understanding is they dissolve it with another type of injection. Also heard it burns and can be pretty painful.
Is there anywhere (YouTube, Coursera, etc.) to learn the history of food safety? Like what do you do if you killed anything larger than a chicken that you couldn’t eat in a day 100 or so years ago? Salting or curing meats before refrigeration, when people discovered canning and preserves, how ice houses worked (or didn’t)? I remember reading something once re how Napoleon had food scientists invent margarine. Stuff like that.
My grandmother was a farm wife and I feel like she understood this and had two chest freezers of food put up but she is gone and I have the memories but not the knowledge.
Frostbite: How Refrigeration Changed Our Food, Our Planet, and Ourselves Hardcover by Nicola Twilley
Fresh: A Perishable History by Susanne Freidberg is a solid pick, too.
For modern food safety, read up on HACCP, which was borne out of “you don’t want an astronaut getting diarrhea (or worse) in space, do you?”
I would say look into the history of jerky and other dried meats also — was just on a food tour and they were talking about how that’s what they did with meats before refrigeration.
We did so much camping during COViD that I could live a happy life without any more jerky. I’m too bougie for anything but day hiking.
bloating – how do you know you’re bloated? I feel like if my pants don’t fit well I could just be having one of my 3 lb swings (up or down). What do you do if you are bloated?
I just know, and usually just think back to whatever culinary debauchery caused it and wait it out. Drink water, go for a walk… sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn’t, but neither can really hurt anything either.
You can feel it. It feels uncomfortable even without pants on, like a pressure in your abdomen.
I wish I had an answer!
For me, bloating is when I’m basically full of gas, but hasn’t yet migrated to a place where I can pass. It’s not weight gain thing at all.
The fullness can make my pants feel tight and uncomfortable but it’s not permanent weight gain.
My daughter is somewhat lactose intolerant but sometimes she does consume dairy. She will show me her bloated belly and call it my “milkshake grandchild.”
Yes, when I am bloated I look like I am pregnant. It can be really impressive.
I’m honestly only really familiar with bloating from medical issues. It’s definitely enough to make pants not fit well (or at all) until it calms down.
It’s definitely important to distinguish bloating from weight gain.
Persistent bloating was the only symptom I felt from colon cancer. Talk to a doctor to see if it makes sense to get a blood workup (mine showed anemia but there are other ways it can look off). They can also tell if you have a genetic predisposition to celiac that way. I know this sounds dramatic, but it truly was the only sign for me and I had no family history or anything and wasn’t even at the normal screening age for a colonoscopy (45 and under).
DH is interviewing for a job. The hiring manager is VP level, and is his former boss, who adores him. She really wants him to join the team. He has been through various interviews with all the relevant stakeholders, and has one remaining interview left with another VP in a tangentially related field – probably a 30 minute conversation type thing. He may also interview with the CEO, but it’s unclear yet if the CEO will feel like he needs to interview him yet. They haven’t posted this role publicly yet – so far, it’s only him interviewing.
How likely do you think it is that he gets the role? He is in the final stages of interviews right now for another company, and they will likely make a decision Monday or Tuesday. He has been so stressed and worn down, so I would love for him to get an offer, but I am in a completely unrelated non-corporate field, so not sure how interviewing works and whether these VPs he’s having 30 min conversations with will sway the decision one way or another.
I would bet he would have to completely blow it in this one to not get the job. But that doesn’t mean he should slack off or treat it less importantly than any other job interview.
I was in a similar situation and the entire team I interviewed with basically told me I had it. Then the CFO interviewed me and just didn’t like me. The team had told me the CFO meeting was “just a formality” – but it wasn’t.
I don’t mean to be Debbie Downer. Just to say don’t count your chickens yet!!!
My perspective (from a large tech company)
Until he has an offer in-hand, nothing is certain – ESPECIALLY if the job isn’t posted publicly.
Even if the whole team adores him and really wants him to join, I’ve seen so many instances where budgets get frozen, the req isn’t actually fully approved, they decide they want to hire someone at a different job level (more junior) etc etc.
In my company, the lack of public posting would be a flag that the req isn’t actually approved. (Counter side of that is that when postings go up, sometimes the preferred candidate is already identified from situations like the one you describe!)
Exactly this. I had “inside track” situations blow up like this several times for some of the reasons stated (and also work to my advantage with the current role I’m in).
