For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.
OK: I admit, I seem to really be loving Nanette Lepore suits right now. But this one is another winner from this season — I love the stark contrast between the tweed and the ribbon details. I feel like the placement of the ribbon is thoughtful, too — note that the bottom of the jacket doesn't have ribon details so there's no big horizontal line cutting you at an unflattering point, and I like the ribbon details at the sleeves (although proper fit will be very important here)! As always with Nanette Lepore stuff, I wish the skirt were about 5 inches longer — but shorter women, rejoice. The jacket (Nanette Lepore Tweed Margherita Jacket) is $398, and the skirt (Nanette Lepore Pinot Tweed Skirt) is $248. (AND: Wow, love the jacket in “beaujolais” as well, although I can't seem to find a matching skirt…)

Love the look of this, but wish it were more wool, less acrylic. The beaujolais jacket and skirt are available at Saks (look under “nanette lapore” and then “jackets, blazers, and vest” online — for some reason it’s not listed under “suits”). The skirt is called “Pinot Noir Skirt”. Plus, Saks is having a 20% sale.
And the Saks site says that the skirt is 21″, which is at least approaching appropriate length for most…
Neiman’s also seems to be having a sale – if you buy 1 item, 20% off; 2 items, 25% off; and 3 items, 30% off. Only applies to select items but it appears that this jacket is included.
On the contrary, 21 inches sounds very short. 23 inches is tunic length on me, and I’m quite short.
More wool? From the description I read, it has no wool.
I wish that the fabric content could be listed in the post. That’s actually more important than the pretty little trim on the skirt. Skilled photographers and Photoshoppers can make things look nicer than they are.
The idea is very cute, I doubt the fabric is nice (viscose/nylon/spandex), and the skirt is way too short. I personally would prefer a jacket that had buttonholes.
Seriously, as courtesy to readers, the fabric content should always be listed.
Otherwise, I’m going to stop clicking on these links. It’s not a good use of my time to look at things that I would never consider buying.
This has to be the most unflattering skirt…. Unless you hanger thin, which most real women aren’t, it would be hard to pull off….the model can’t even pull it off.
Stupid length of skirt for any office except some place artistic.
