Suit of the Week: Reiss

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women's suits of 2026!
This suit has caught my eye a few times recently when I've visited Reiss, and it always makes me stop. We are definitely seeing more shorter jackets these days — here's another one at COS, which looks mighty similar to a Ferragamo suit from last year) — but I think it has a lot to do with that top neck button.
The button at the neck is optional, for what it's worth — there are a lot of pictures where it just looks like she's wearing a regular suit (albeit with a slightly shorter hem).
Readers, what are your thoughts — would you wear a suit with a fit like this? The suit comes in regular and petite sizes at Reiss; pieces range from TK to $490.

I love Reiss. And have gotten my dad hooked too.
I would wear a suit with this silhouette! I find that I don’t need formal suits as much today, especially since we’re remote, but I do need power suits or dresses for conferences, big meetings etc. So anything that is business formal-ish and looks good. Some Reiss dresses fit this.
I am way too interested in Taylor Swift’s wedding.
I am interested the appropriate amount! Bring it on!
i do NOT get how MSG is an ideal wedding situation!!
Inconveniencing the peasants is the point
This peasant finds it exciting compared to an exclusive island somewhere I’ll never ever see!
Yeah is that even a nice place to get married? A friend got married at the manor they filmed the Blank Space music video at, that was a nice place.
same… I hope it’s a decoy and they spent all that money just to rent it out and are secretly somewhere private & fabulous!
She’s been very very public with Travis (pap walks, etc) so I don’t think it’s a decoy.
While I, too, hope it’s a decoy…. I can be convinced that they would hold it there because it’s securable and private. She has all of the money in the world. I think they build out some massive set inside with multiple rooms, etc. so that it’s completely transformed. We won’t even know it’s MSG when the pictures drop.
I’ve read a lot about how secure it is – no windows, private entrances, etc. That is probably a big part of the appeal. Basically a blank….space (heh) + unlimited budget, she can make it whatever she wants.
+1. I’ve seen some pretty sh*tty venues turn into incredible spaces with lots of money. She has more than enough money to turn MSG into something unrecognizable if she wants to. Her experience in design and production helps too.
I get this… but it feels like a show instead of a personal event at that point.
To me it feels more personal the more is customized or individualized, like every single thing I’m looking at is specific to the occasion. It’s not what I did, but I do appreciate it.
There is no way a wedding like this is anything but a show, no matter the venue.
If they’re really getting married, it’s really a wedding. They are people!
I mean, they’ve said they invited 1000 people. If you want to be generous, it’s a wedding AND a show.
I’ve been to weddings with 1000 guests. I promise you it was too many people, but it was just a wedding.
Silly question: why can’t people find out if they have applied for a marriage license?
You can appear anywhere in the state to apply for the license, and it’s good for 60 days with a 24 hour waiting period. Surely “Taylor Swift” and “Travis Kelce” would alert even the most elderly of town clerks in some sleepy upstate hamlet.
Maybe they found a town clerk, somewhere with a reasonable sense of professionalism and respect for personal privacy?
I essentially have no opinions about her wedding, although I can certainly understand the advantages of a site like MSG where she can maintain security and keep the paparazzi out. It has been a while since I lived in New York, but I vaguely recall that it was not uncommon for the streets in that area to be closed for a wide variety of different events. And agreed that she could basically build any venue she wants in a space that large. I suspect they are dividing it up with the ceremony being in one section and then dinner/dancing in another. I also strongly suspect they are not using the entire venue given how many people are in her permit application.
Is this public record? I assume a town clerk would be professional about it.
(Also you are REALLY overestimating how many people who may feel a sense of familiarity upon seeing the name Taylor Swift have any idea she’s engaged or have any idea who Travis Kelce is.)
In some states, but not in NY.
What are the odds that they have the legal ceremony somewhere else?
I believe that marriage licenses are FOIA-exempt in New York, and also I think you can have a virtual appointment to request one.
Who has experience with laser hair removal, in particular the bikini line? The last few summers I’ve been thinking about it and can’t get myself to pull the trigger on a package. It seems like my hair has gotten thicker down there and it’s painful to shave so I don’t do it as often. I like going to the neighborhood pool several times a week in the summer and would love to just go without worrying about choosing a suit that covers the overgrowth or needing to hop in the shower and shave.
If you got it done, how many sessions did it take? Did it remove the hair permanently or are you getting regular touch ups? Was it painful?
I found laser less painful than waxing. It’s been about three years and I haven’t needed any touch-ups. I think it took six sessions. I paid for each session individually even though it cost more than a package, because I wasn’t sure how many sessions I’d need and I didn’t want to be locked in to a package if I found it too painful or ineffective.
Just putting it out there — I go to the neighborhood pool a few times a week with my kids and I am never judging a woman with a bit of hair peeking out, mostly because I am not looking that closely. I admit I do people watch more closely when I’m at hotels and resorts, so I see a good use case for waxing before a trip, but most people at my neighborhood pool DGAF. I am relieved that people over 30 are visually irrelevant there.
Same. On the off chance that I notice body hair on others I truly don’t care.
Personally, I just trim up the edges with scissors if things get too unruly.
An electric razor works great in a pinch, and I don’t have to worry about razor burn or bumps. I’ll admit that I am a total wuss about waxing. That ish hurts.
I did laser, but I did really like the electric razer I used for my bikini line. Quick, easy, totally painless. I think it was $20 on the river site.
Yeah, I don’t shave anywhere on my body and go to the swimming pool without shame. imo, anyone who would notice bikini line hair is being pervy – no one should be looking that closely!
IDK
I am a pale dark-haired wookie and I feel that it’s just noticeable in its natural state. I wish I had been born with different genes. I’d live to go to the pool spontaneously or for more than one day a month when I can get my act together for that.
I am with you. I don’t want to show off the hair, and I don’t want to see or feel it myself either. Laser all the way.
I bought a 6 session package (they are often cheaper if you buy a package). I have dark hair and light skin, which is great for laser and terrible for shaving. It was LIFE CHANGING- I shave maybe once a month and even then it’s quick touch ups, and it is so nice not having shaving be a consideration if I want to head to the pool spur of the moment. It is not that painful (like a rubber band, snapping), and if you have an experienced tech, pretty quick. I just wish I had done it years ago.
Swim shorts were my solution to this.
i did it a few years ago because I was worried about HS. It wasn’t that painful; it took maybe 5-6 sessions. I think I had a touchup one year later but none since and it’s been really great.
If your hair is dark and your skin is light, it works amazingly well. I’ve also done my underarms and my lower legs and zero regrets. I’d almost say to do them all at once, although you have to stay out of the sun for a while IIRC which could be a pain with the legs.
I did it 20 years ago on bikini and underarm and cannot suggest it enough. WIth good numbing cream, it was, at worst, modestly unpleasant. Not only does the laser mean that I don’t have hairs, but I also don’t have the dark shadow under my skin that I had after I shaved. I am not a very hairy person, and I now run a razor over my bikini and underarms about once a month, but I’m probably the only person who sees the strays. The only regret I can imagine having about this is not doing it earlier in my life. Time spent shaving is not time well spent.
I don’t remember how many sessions it was.
I did it on my underarms years ago and I regret not covering more area! It didn’t hurt very much and I shave maybe once every month or two now. I don’t have the time/budget to commit to getting my bikini line done at the moment, but when I do, it’s happening.
I have a wonky work travel schedule so just tried the at home Braun laser first and to my complete shock it worked great! I have very pale skin and dark hair, so was a great candidate. Unfortunately, in perimenopause the upper lip and bikini line hair are coming back but it’s so much lighter/sparser than what I started with as a lady with PCOS.
+1 for the Braun. I used it consistently for the 8 week recommended period last year and it has dramatically slowed down hair growth and made the hair lighter.
do it! it is life changing! like my legs are smooth always, I can wear a tank top and shorts or hit the pool with no advanced warning. amazing. like 80% gone in 2 sessions, all gone in 6. it’s been 2 years about and I have 2 hairs back I’ll go get zapped some day. 2 hairs!
It cannot recommend it enough. Bought a six session package and it worked perfectly
Did bikini years go and wished I had done it sooner! razors, shaving cream, razor burn~ oh my gosh I can’t go to the pool because I forgot to shave~ all of that gone for good!
I did not have to do my legs or under arms because I really didn’t grow much hair there
once a month I’ll shave there when I think about it,
seriously considering doing my menopause mustache this upcoming winter
Oh ~ far less painful than waxing which I cried through & got epic level ingrown hairs from. That I did two times and I vowed never again
do you wear white pants in the summer? do you only wear white denim or can you do fabrics less heavy?
My only pair of white pants are denim ones. My prior pair were too grungy to keep going and I had to retire them; they were 100% rigid cotton with no stretch and I loved them so much. My current pair is basically the same cut but with a little stretch and I am not a fan because they feel thinner and I can see where my dark shirt is tucked. I would not be comfortable wearing white pants in a less-dense fabric.
I have white linen pants that I love for a poolside look, but they are a wee bit transparent so nude underwear is key.
I have the white athleta linen pants.
I wear the white Carolina linen pants from crew.
Love them.
I have and love these too. They are work pants, and lined.
White linen with a longer linen tunic _ I cut the lining out of them because it made me overheat
I am under the heat dome in the northeast so I have not been wearing my white denim as they are just too hot 🥵 if it cools a bit (80 or less) then I’ll wear those
