For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women's suits of 2026!
This charcoal suit from Reiss looks lovely… and they have a very interesting matching bomber jacket.
When I rounded up how to wear bomber jackets to the office a few months ago, I don' t think I envisioned the bomber-jacket-as-suiting. And I still feel kind of mixed about it here; something about the stand collar and zipper feels more “polished track suit” than bomber jacket. But altogether it's an interesting look, and one that I think could be worn to the office. I'd be more inclined to treat them as separates, but that's me.
The more classic suiting looks great — I like the “mottled herringbone weave,” as well as the pick stitching, full lining, and working button cuffs. The pieces are $320-$480.
Psst: some sizes of the Banana Republic x La Ligne collaboration are back in stock if you were sad they sold out about 2 seconds after dropping…

I have a bomber jacket suit. It looks great, but works better for industry events and not for a very formal or serious occasion.
I cannot even begin to imagine that for my life. I did go check out the bomber jacket link. Fashion is an interesting beast.
Compared to the link, my jacket is a little cropped, has a smaller collar, and the sleeves aren’t elastic-y.
In my role I am usually looking more for pieces that generally look good than strictly business professional/formal
I can see a bomber style working in a different color or fabric. In this incarnation however, it looks much like a mechanic’s coverall to my eye.
Agree. The examples in the roundup generally look like they could work in my finance bro office. Today’s bomber reads like it’s oil change time, though.
I’d love a pair of wool herringbone trousers that aren’t too wide leg or slouchy. Any good finds? The Boden Canonbury in hunter green are tempting me. I love the green, but a neutral might get more wears with my closet.
Those are gorgeous, and FWIW a green like that acts a neutral in my wardrobe.
+1, that’s the type of color that practically acts like a neutral. Love those.
i feel like j.crew had some that looked nice
I wanted to reach out to the reader who posted about getting a molar extracted and having mixed feelings about it. I have had two molars extracted, implants put in and crowns added, all within the last few years. I have had many ups and downs for different reasons (bad reaction to anesthesia once, the implant top screw somehow came unscrewed – twice, etc.) BUT, after it’s all be finished I could not be happier with the results. My teeth all feel like real teeth and look like real teeth and I do not have any pain anywhere in my mouth, nor do I have two wiggly molars. Trust me, your future self will be grateful that you finally did something because waiting on this was not going to make it better and could possibly make it way worse (one of mine got a cavity in a place that was not visible and started hurting like h-ll). The only advice is that you take it easy on yourself and check with your dental insurance to see if you can spread out your steps so that you can get additional coverage (e.g. implants in one calendar year and crown the next calendar year). Dental work is not cheap.
