For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women’s suits of 2026!
There are a TON of great holiday suits out there right now — I definitely need to round them up. But I think this one wins the feature for today: this purple velvet suit from Me+Em is just stunning. It seems to actually glow in some of the pictures.
The name of the color is “intense plum purple,” and I love that the pants comes in regular and short lengths. They also have the suit in a dark brown. The blazer is $645 and the pants are $525, all at MeandEm.com.
I love that they have a matching blouse as well as a matching brushed cashmere mockneck tee. Should you feel the urge to spend $60 on socks, they also have a lovely gray sock with a matching intense purple stripe down the back.

I cannot say enough good things about this brand, and if you wait, things do go on sale.
This is so gorgeous (and totally impractical for me on all fronts).
This is beautiful but I fear I would look like Prince at best, Willy Wonka/Mad Hatter at worst.
I would look like a cross of Prince and Roseanne and Grimace.
Any recommendations: I just received a Boden sweater (the Edie fair isle one) and it smells awful when I open the packaging. Like sooooo chemically – not mothball / moldy. I certainly couldn’t wear it with current smell. I’m trying to figure out if this will go away – with time? washing? something else? – or if I should cut my losses and return it. I can’t wash it or cut off tags while I try to figure out if this is temporary or can be resolved. The content is: 38% polyamide, 34% RWS certified wool, 14% cotton, 9% RAS certified alpaca, 3% polyester, 2% acrylic. What would you do?
It if is returnable and over $50 I would return it. But if you want to keep it, I suggest soaking in a vinegar bath. If that does not work, spray it with vodka.
I don’t know what to say, but that’s one highly processed sweater! I’m kind of stunned to see that ingredient list, and would probably return it. My guess though is that it is the polyamide that needs to off gas. You could let it sit out in a room with the window open or outside for awhile.
