Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: CC Skye Bardot Bag

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.
For this week's splurge, we like this grained leather tote from CC Skye. The gold hardware is playful without being annoying or too blingy, and the structure is functional but chic. We also like that it can be worn over your shoulder or on your arm, as pictured. Available at Zappos for $701. CC SKYE – Bardot (Black) – Bags and Luggage

Gorgeous! And I love that the straps and hardware look substantial enough to do some heavy lifting–I usually walk to work, so I carry everything from a change of shoes to “emergency stockings” (darn those runs!) in my purse.
TPS–I am starting to think that you and I do not mesh style-wise. This bag is trendy, tacky and gold hardware like that, particularly on the bottom, will scratch up and not last. What a waste of a purchase.
My taste tends more toward classic–and if someone walked into my firm with that bag, people would think she was playing “Dress Up Attorney.” NSFW.
I think it probably depends on location/firm. A bag like that would totally fly at my office, although I wouldn’t carry it to court. Admittedly I don’t like it $700 worth but I disagree that it’s NSFW.
Doesn’t it seem awfully big? Almost like a briefcase.
Actually, it’s not as big as it looks. I have it in white, and I always get compliments on it. It’s one of my go-to handbags when I wear a camel or deep beige colored trench or winter coat. Great selection, TPS!
