huh. I usually would say that sweater dresses are too clingy for work, but this one looks great. The slip would be a must. So would presumably by the time you break this one out it will be freezing outside. Would you do boots/tights or just heels/tights? I am a big flat-heeled boots fan usually, but I think they might be too clunky for this dress.
If you did heels/tights, wouldn’t you want to consider something other than the head-to-toe all black look? Here in Texas, I’d say regular pantyhose in one’s skin tone, but we don’t have the wintry weather and walking to work to factor into legwear selections. With the turtleneck underneath it, there wouldn’t be a “need” for a blazer? Corporate appropriate or too trendy a look then? What say you, other Corporettes?
I like the dress (and vote for slouchy boots with it – are those office appropriate?), but all that black and then a color-blocking effect via turtleneck at the top and sleeves seems off to me. Too severe, I think. Maybe a scarf instead to add some color and make it winter appropriate?
I’d buy it in gray and then wear black heels or boots. Or perhaps wear it with bright vcolored heels? I am more concerned about the neckline. With the boatneck, would there be an issue with bra straps possibly showing?
How about wearing a set of diamante bra straps they would add a touch of sparkle particularly through to after work.
Love this. Wonder if a nice button down would layer better under it? Perhaps add a belt at the natural waist too. Or drop the button down and add a scarf at the neck, small earrings if any jewelry at all. And tights and heels, or boots.
I’m 5’4″ with a long torso and short legs. This would look ridiculous and matronly on me, but I love the way it looks on this 6′ tall model! Wish they had a petite version (but then again petites are usually short-waisted, which also = me looking ridiculous…sigh). If you find something like this for us short gals, please post!
Catherine, you are apparently my body double. If only shirts that came in long torso sizes didn’t always have correspondingly long arms!
Beautiful!
I love it. I would not wear it with boots to work. I would choose some fun shoes, maybe chunky mary janes or t-straps. Tights or hose, your choice, and pearls for conservative/light at the face, or chains, or if you dare, something more “statement.”
I think you might try this on even if you are not super tall. I can see no absolute reason it would not work, except if it is too long or the sleeves really bulky.
love, love, love it! great for my business casual fridays . . .Can I wear a blazer over this and boots?
Wow. If you’re looking for a “corporate” look, you’d definitely want to go with stockings (nude or off black), black pumps, and a significant scarf (Ferragamo, Hermes, Pucci or something that looks like them). For most corporate looks, boots only work under pants, casual Friday — or when it’s snowing.
oooh lustlustlustlust….
Abby, I don’t think you need to worry about bra straps showing. The neckline isn’t really that wide. Love Sue’s ideas about what to pair this up with. Can’t wait to try it out!!!
