nordstrom half-yearly sale for women 2018

The below content is about the 2018 Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale.

I've been getting sale alerts for days, and it finally occurred to me: the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale is here! (It officially started this morning, but they started marking things down a day or two ago.) The dresses for work are the main attraction, I think — SO MANY GOOD ONES UNDER $100! — but there are also a bunch of nice blazers on sale.

Specific brands of note: there's lots to love in the sale from Hugo Boss, Boden (!), Tahari, HalogenTheory, Equipment, DvF, Kate Spade New York, and Lewit.

Some of these finds may be a little party focused, but if you're on the hunt or have a very feminine style they sales may be for you: Ted Baker, Maggy London, Adrianna Pappell, and Eliza J.

Good deals on underthings from NatoriHanky Panky, Chantelle, and Spanx – and great deals on workout items from Zella and Beyond Yoga.

One important note: things are selling out quickly in the sale — so if you find something you really like that's in stock and in your size, you may want to check out quickly rather than let it sit for an hour (or day or two). I inevitably shop for myself while I'm doing these sale roundups and heard sad trombones a few times when things I wanted sold out while they were sitting in my shopping cart, so I just made a few smaller orders instead of one big one.

Anything we've previously featured that is now on sale (and still in stock) is tagged here.

Some particular picks for workwear from the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale of 2018, after the jump…

  1. Kat, I did NOT even know about this Nordstrom sale. If I lived in Weschester, I think I would but Rosa gets all of their email notices, but I do NOT b/c I am NOT suposed to give out my work email for sales. I could use my personal email, but the manageing partner does NOT want me to shop on line at the office, b/c of my billeing responsibilities. I just asked for the Hugo Boss, so can NOT go in there again for more clotheing approvals either today or even this week. FOOEY!

  2. As I am turning 30, a lot of my good female friends have been getting married and then leaving NY for the west coast. Being from the south, all except one of my best friends is still single. I’m finding that I have less in common with these married friends. They don’t seem to emphasize with the dating issues I’m experiencing as much, and at times I feel that my dating stories have become a kind of entertainment for them and make themselves feel better about being in a relationship. At the same time, I don’t have any replacement for these friends who have settled down, and it’s really hard to find a good friend when you’re in a new city. I’ve been in NYC two years now and still haven’t found a good circle of friends, let alone a decent church community.

How do you deal with losing friends to relationships and who leave town? Replacing them with new friends seems really hard to do in one’s 30s.

    1. I, too, am 30, from the south, and have been living in a transient city, Washington, DC, for 3 years. Its hard to make new friends in your 30s, even harder to make them in large, transient cities. Recently, the last of my single friends started a serious relationship and to be completely candid, while I was happy for her, I struggled with feeling sorry for myself that I lost my last partner in crime. In the interest of full disclosure, there was a Friday morning a few months ago that I cried on my bathroom floor realizing I didn’t have anyone to do anything with that Saturday night. Remind yourself that you, and only you, are responsible for your happiness and make an effort to do something for yourself every day. Things I’ve done recently: joined a new gym (Equinox), started training for a marathon, picked up tennis, and planned monthly trips. Not only am I slowly but surely meeting new people, I’m no longer expecting my friends to fulfill me and am able to accept my relationships for what they are. I hope this helps!

  3. I’m so frustrated with Nordstrom’s sale. They can’t keep their inventory straight. Multiple items show as in stock, then when I put them in my cart they’re sold out. But still in stock on the item page. And all four dresses that I managed to complete purchases on were cancelled – as long as 24 hours later – because they are no longer available. It’s frustrating and not worth my time.
